Adding Torque On Demand to 2022 F150 XLT

I own a 2022 F150 XLT, 3.5L EB, 3.55 Elec Lock rear, max trailer option. I am seeing on different forums that I need to change the transfer case, TCCM and shift switch to add TOD. Then there is reprogramming involved using another trucks Vin # that has this option.

When I looked under my truck the transfer case part number tag installed is ML34-7A195-AG. Online I can only find ML3Z-7A195-AG which is TOD,3.5L, Hybrid transfer case. What does the "4" and "Z" represent in the part #'s respectively?

When I put my Vin # in on Ford OEM parts website it comes up with ML3Z-7A195-AJ , electronic transfer case, (Which should supposedly be installed on my truck). This does not have TOD, which would be the correct part number for my truck but that is not the tag part # on my transfer case.

Is it possible that for some reason the factory happened to put the TOD transfer case in my truck because I am being told on another forum that XLT's only get the
electronic transfer case. If that is the case I would only need to replace TCCM and shift switch with reprogramming to follow?

Now, what does TOD really mean in this instance? The "without 4hi-loc" in the description has me questioning if it will support 4A.

Exactly, that is what I am trying to figure out. Why is there a "Z" instead of a "4" in the part number?

I think the 4Hi-loc locks the front and rear so everything spins at the same speed. I don't need that. Just looking for "4A" option. If it is just a matter of changing the TCCM and shift switch with reprogramming that saves me a lot of money not having to change out the transfer case.

For what it's worth, some ebay listings for this part # note it as electronic shift on the fly. I'm not sure how ebay knows this, but since Ford does like to make it very confusing to distinguish between 'internal' and 'external' part numbers, realistically I'd assume that you don't have the TOD case.

All XLT's come with the ESOF transfer case, not TOD. Your part numbers confirm this. The Ford base part number of the transfer case assembly is 7A195. The suffix tells which version it is. ESOF is Ax, where x increments with minor revisions to the part. Your truck came with an AG, but if you were to replace it now, the current version is apparently AJ.

The prefix encodes the model year ("M" for 2021 when the part was initially released), a vehicle line code ("L3" for F-150), and a release activity ("4"). For reasons unknown to me, Ford changes the last digit of the suffix to "Z" in the service system. So for our purposes that doesn't matter.

For a TOD without Hi-Lock, I think the suffix is Bx or Hx. I'll have to double check that, as it is not normal to have two different suffix variants for the same thing. The Hi-Lock version from the Raptor/Tremor is Jx, but I suggest keeping it simple with the base TOD since your truck would probably need a new driveshaft with the Hi-Lock version.
