I'm still making discoveries about my '22 F-150 Lariat 502A. I have long been a been fan of using Cruise Control, and have only had vehicles with "standard" Cruise Control. This is my first vehicle that utilizes the technology of Adaptive Cruise Control. I fully appreciate the features and benefits of Adaptive, but I prefer the standard (personal taste). When Adaptive is turned off in the Sync4 screen, anytime I turn on the Cruise Control (now "standard"), I get a very annoying alert chime and warning message in the gauge cluster screen. It's irritating! Is there anyway to disable this so-called feature? FORScan?

What is the warning? Adaptive cruise is one of my favorite things about the truck so I've never turned it off so I'm curious what the warning would be for.

I fully appreciate that people love it. It's just something that, personally, I don't really care for. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I get a gold-ish colored message in the instrument cluster "warning" me (advising me???) that the Adaptive Cruise Control is not operational. I can almost hear the Ford engineers... "Hey you nincompoop, you don't have Adaptive Cruise turned on! What's wrong with you? Certainly, you really want it on, don't you? Now be a good boy, and go back and turn it back on and take advantage of our great feature that we put on your truck.... idiot!"

I then click the "OK" button and the message goes off, but it is the accompanying chime that I dislike the most. It is very distracting! I turn on the Cruise Control and start hearing warning alerts and immediately scour the instruments thinking something serious is wrong. I know the double honk when you exit the vehicle while running is widely regarded as being incredibly annoying, and even hated. I put the Active Cruise notice right up there with it (probably because I use the cruise much more frequently than I get out of the truck with the engine running).

It is so you cannot mistake you are using adaptive cruise. It is likely a Ford liability thing. If you thought you were in adaptive and rear ended someone on the interstate.

On "first blush" (as they used to say) your answer is logical and makes sense - when I posted, I hadn't thought of it from that angle. But as I thought through it further, I think I changed my mind. It seems to me that that same legal arguement could be made against any Cruise Control system, and they have been around since (as far as I know) the '60s.

At this point, I am not interested in the "why" it is there, as much as I am interested in a solution: how can I turn off the the audible alert? And as a bonus, turn off the alert all together. Is this a FORScan mod item? Looking for some insight...

I would assume you did not get your answer to turning off the notification of the "Normal" Cruise. Like you, I am not a fan of the adaptive cruise. I have switched to the same "Normal" cruise control and get the same annoying warning. I know I turned off adaptive cruise! Duh, it was intentional. I tried using it, but it has gotten me close to being rear-ended on the highway more than once. I have adaptive cruise in my 2020 Expedition and had it in my 2019 Chevy Blazer. I never was able to get comfortable using it. I am sure it works for some, but it slows down the truck too quickly when someone cuts in front of you. People following close are not anticipating you slowing down so quickly. Plus, I don't need it to slow me down when coming up on someone before I pass them on the interstate. I have learned to pay attention to my driving and don't need all the "Driver Assitance" features.

One way to mitigate it stopping or slowing down too much (which I admit can be a pain in the ass) is to do one foot driving. I’m used to doing that because I’ve had electric cars I. The past. So what I do is just modulate the speed if needed with the accelerator pedal. If I see I’m coming up on a semi for example I just put my foot on the pedal ever so lightly and once you get used to it works pretty good. Wish I had a better answer for disabling the warnings but I don’t.

I frequently get the "CANCELED" screen warning and chime when I'm using Adaptive Cruise in town...my old Mayberry town doesn't have lines on each side of the road for every road. Sometimes they don't mark deceleration lanes. My Ford goes nuts during some stretches of road.

I've just learned to either deal with it or not use it in those areas. I have zero issues on state highways with actual markings.

You are correct, WD8CXB - I never got an answer, and I still would REALLY like to have one. Maybe through Forscan??? I really would like to kill this so-called "feature". I just want to know how to turn the damn thing off! Hmmm, maybe I should consider switching to decaf...

I'm an old dinosaur, admittedly. But if I wanted to avoid all the latest tech it would require purchasing a stripped Gen14 F150. Something below XLT 302A?

These things are STUFFED with technology!

It might actually be possible to remove Adaptive Cruise from your truck. Afterall, there are some clever fellas on this forum that added it to their trucks. I bet you could reverse engineer it, literally. :)

Yes, my truck IS filled with technology - some of it I wanted, and some of it I didn't. Because of "packages" and trim levels, if you really want option "A", you have to get it in a package or a trim level that also has option "B", "C", "D", and "E". I don't want those other options - but I really want option "A"... so all the other stuff comes along for the ride, whether I want it or not, or plan to use it or not. That's just the nature of auto manufacturing anymore. This topic could be a whole thread on its own!

To be clear, I'm not necessarily looking to "remove" Adaptive Cruise Control from my truck. I just want to be able to turn off the annoying audible and visual alerts/warnings that pop up when you turn it off.

I, like you, detest this annoying "feature". I, like you, just want it gone. I, like you, don't want to permanently disable it. I, like you, don't want to hear reasons why it exists, why I should drive with it on, etc., etc. If someone out there could please just tell us how to turn the stupid chimes off so that the whole truck doesn't have to hear it every time I turn the cruise on, that would be great. If the answer is, "It can't be done," so be it.

I absolutely completely understand why someone would dislike adaptive cruise.

My only advice for those people is to give it another chance, but make sure the flowing distance is set to the smallest/shortest distance as possible. For me, this makes adaptive cruise much more tolerable in all situations.

Just a pointer, take it for what it’s worth.

You are missing the point. We don't necessarily dislike adaptive cruise. It has it's uses. We don't want preaching; we want to know how to turn off the chime.

This doesn't answer your question but... I've found that when in adaptive cruise, using eco mode will keep the truck from accelerating so aggressively to get back up to speed, seems to even brake more smoothly too. Also, I turn off speed limit sign adjusting as it seems to be overly aggressive as well.
