I bought a 2021 Ford F150 Limited hybrid used from a friend of mine about 6 months ago. Everything worked fine until about 2 weeks ago. While on a road trip, the active motion feature on the passenger seat only quit working. A push of the round button on the seat or an attempt to activate the feature on the touch screen would not start the massage feature. The driver's seat works fine. No issues.
The touch screen just shows the seat “grayed out” when trying to get the passenger seat to activate. Again, the driver's seat works as designed. All other features on the passenger seat work as designed like the heat and ventilation and seat movements. If I had to venture a guess, it is as though the passenger weight sensor in the passenger seat thinks no one is seated in that seat, thus the feature remains in the off position. Is there a passenger weight sensor (in addition to the air bag weight sensor) in the passenger seat specifically designed to work with the active motion feature of the passenger seat? If there is, is there an easy way to disable that weight sensor, like unplugging it or using some sort of a jumper wire in a connector? If it exists, where is it? What does it look like? Can I unplug it to disable it? Does anyone have photos or diagrams to help me locate it under the seat?
I have removed the electrical connector to the SCMH and checked for bent pins and corrosion. All appears OK. I also checked the wiring to the SCMH for damage or other issues. Again, all appears OK. I've checked under the seat for wire damage, electrical plugs not seated, or any other obvious issues with negative results. All seems OK.
I have made certain all the fuses in both fuse boxes are fully seated although I could not find a fuse directly dedicated to the operation of the active motion feature on the passenger seat only. Again, all appears OK.
I'm at a loss. What is causing the passenger seat only failure of the active motion option? I need help before I go to the dealership.
