Today after driving into the store .. ( maybe 20 minutes) the truck sat for about 45 minutes… the smell/odor was so strong I had to roll the windows down … this is complete crap ! Dealer “can’t duplicate “ the problem.. my wife asked if it’s always this bad .. is now wondering if this is why my sinuses haven’t cleared up in months ? I am not doing some aftermarket fix as this should fall on the responsibility of the FORD MOTCO …
Do you want to be right or do you want the smell gone?
Try some suggestions rather than waiting for Ford to step up to the plate. It will be a long wait.

I don’t want to spend more money on a problem that should happen.. I understand what you are saying .. and I am trying a few things .. it in the end FORD SHOULD FIXE IT … should be fixed years ago it appears ..

Well as the weather gets warmer the AC in my truck is being used and the moldy smell has returned. My wife is to the point she’s not willing to take/use my truck for anything. The smell subsided after a few minutes of use but it’s very strong with initial turn on. Has anyone gotten Ford to fix the issue. I refuse to buy more stuff to make my truck work like it should. 22 Limited PowerBoost.

I don't remember this suggestion in the thread. But it was mentioned that turning off the recycling of the interior air a few minutes before ending the trip would dry out the ac internals lessening the mildew potential. I noticed on our other vehicles , we always have the recycle butto off. AC works fine and never have had a smell in any vehicle. Would never putting the recycle button on solve the smell issue?

In my part of the world, yes, we don't have the constant high humidity. We do have -40 C to +40 C temperatures. I have always stated it easier to heat or cool fresh air rather than stale air. The only time I use recirculation is when traveling through a lot of dust in the air. I also almost never use high fan speed. Allows the air traveling through the heat/ac coil a chance to change temperature. Yes, it does take longer to heat or cool the truck, but I believe there is better air quality.

Typically , like damn near all the time , the recycle is off and smell/odor .. is as strong as ever . Was assigned a Ford Case number and a while ago and crickets .. drop $70+k for a truck and now I can’t seem to get rid of it because of the issues I’m having…

I would think that now you would have to clean the tunnel and coil of what ever is causing the smell first now that it is contaminated .

I had the smell of a rodent nest in my truck and a single application of Febreze took care of the odor 100% . The product was formulated specifically for odor elimination. For $8 it is worth a try.
