Press and hold the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons and it will lock the doors with the fob in the car. You can not lock the doors from the inside and then close the door with the fob in the car, you have to use the keypad.
This was Awesome! Thanks for that!

Agree.
Just replace it with a rubber ducky. I did and works great.
.
The power gate turned off still will not open with the keypad and a "5" at the end.
little antennas don't work where I'm at :(.

However the shark fin on my wife's explorer picks up everything fine. I get why they didn't want to put one on the F150s (roof racks is what I heard), but there are other options besides the giant antenna.

The keypad is plain stupid!! who the F cares about that!! I dont--just messes up the fluid look on the doors

Just like the stupid ant---put the Ant into the WS glass like all others or the fin on the roof!! No need for a 36 inch whip on the fender!!
The keypad is one of the main reasons I stick with Ford. Last thing I need is that big honking key in my pocket. I got about five pounds of stuff in there already.

Yea I love the keypads. Thats how I lock my truck every day (hit bottom 2 buttons together). I also use it to unlock the truck if I dont have the key in my pocket, and I lock my fob in the truck when I'm hiking / biking etc.

I would hide thee fob outside the truck in the bushes or somewhere. Break the window and drive away. The truck would detect the fob inside.

No it won't. If you lock with the 2 bottom keypad buttons, the only way back into the truck is through FordPass app or the code.

Edit; Re-read and saw that you mentioned they could break the window. I guess that is true, so have to determine if you're in an area where that might happen. Usually when I lock it inside of the truck, I'm at an area for hiking / biking and not a lot of car thieves checking the ~20 vehicles in a parking lot miles away from the city.

Get a key fob faraday bag (tons of them on Amz for less than $15 for 2).

This is not good for someone who wants to always leave fob in truck and keypad in and go.

But if you are parking your truck for awhile and don't want to pocket the fob (i.e. going for a jog at a park, airport parking for travel, etc), this is a solution. Of course the car thief could still find the fob in the bag, but don't think most would take the time or have the knowledge to pursue.

I'm thinking I'll hard mount a simple metal key lock box somewhere to store, or have a padlock style somewhere it would be difficult to attack even if the thief had the tools. Not exactly this, but something like this.

Or, you could leave the key fob with a friend at their house while the truck is running, then drive to the recreation area and do your hiking with your cell phone in your pocket. When finished hiking, call your friend to bring the key fob to your location.

You can't do this. If you remove the FOB from the truck, even running, you can't take it out of Park. Maybe if you leave it in Drive it would work, but you'll have to run to catch your truck ;)

Of course, if you undo your seatbelt and open the door, the truck will put it in Park for you..unless you use one of those fake seat belt thing...

Or have your friend run out and get it from you, but again, Not sure how the truck reacts when you do that. I'll have to test after the storm we got going on right now.

Ahh, I did not know about the Park lock with no fob in the vehicle. I'll have to test that on my truck. My 2017 Lincoln will function normally without the fob in the vehicle once the engine is started, but once you turn off the engine you are done. Seems like the Park lock has its pro's and con's. It would keep someone from driving off with the vehicle if you jump out for a minute to mail a letter or something, but if your kid throws the fob out the window while you are driving you are pretty much screwed.

My '17 was the same way as your lincoln, but I enabled the secure idle feature via forscan as I always have my key on my person (so I can run into a store and leave it running). That feature is now just on in the 14th gen trucks.

I really love the feature because with my powerboost, the truck will just stay on, with the engine off while I run inside. If I'm inside for an extended period of time it will only run about 1 minute 3 times an hour. Nice on hot Florida summer days :)
