With the fob a d remote entry or whatever it's called I doubt I used the keypad on my 2020 3 times in 2 years.
I don't think mine will ever wear out. I have never used it to get in the truck. Only set it and tested it IF the day comes I need to use it. I just grab the door latch and it unlocks. Nice.

The only think better would be if it unlocked when you approached (maybe only the driver side, with the rest unlocking when you grabbed the handle). I mean the truck makes so much racket that I thought it unlocked the truck for you when I first got it. I still have no clue what all those sounds are. My wife's Explorer does the same thing.

Actually, it’s not necessary to grab the handle. Fingers inside of the handle will work without even touching the door handle.

Yup, I know that, but I don't think it works if you're wearing gloves. It is capacitive, is it not? Maybe it would work with gloves? I have not tried this. I think I need to try this.

Normally I put my hand behind the handle and only have to barely touch it, but maybe that's just habit.

Just tried it on my '21. Tailgate did not move.
Worked on mine. My parking spot at work is on a slight incline though. Maybe that's why?

I find on level ground my tonneau cover catches holds the tailgate a bit a prevents it from opening even if I try opening it with the fob....

Mine is a power one. Even with front of truck parked downhill it is still going to open. Keypad just does not do it and maybe being a power one is why.

You could try disabling the "power tailgate" in Sync and then see if it works :)

This 90’s relict keypad hurts my eyes every time I see it. I don’t understand why they don’t replace it with the invisible one that lights up when touched
Actually had one on my 1984 Mercury Cougar that looked nicer than my 2022 KR.

The keypad is plain stupid!! who the F cares about that!! I dont--just messes up the fluid look on the doors

Just like the stupid ant---put the Ant into the WS glass like all others or the fin on the roof!! No need for a 36 inch whip on the fender!!

I use my keypad all the time. But agree with you on the antenna.

Agree.
Just replace it with a rubber ducky. I did and works great.
.
The power gate turned off still will not open with the keypad and a "5" at the end.
