5.0L engine compatibility question.

I have a 2018 F-150 in need of an engine. I also have a low mileage totaled 2022 on the yard. Both have "5" vin code. Parts guy at dealer says he doesn't think it will interchange because the part numbers are different and the 2018 isn't available where the 2022 is available. Can anyone on here confirm? Thanks in advance.

I doubt they're directly interchangeable, as the '21 and newer is a different generation of engine. I'm sure someone with much more knowledge than me could make it work; whether it would be worth it is a different question.

Not compatible different generation of engine with different software and hardware. 2022 engine has variable displacement and replaced CMCV with a larger intake manifold. Intake plumbing is all different as the newer engine has a larger throttle body and runners.
