Hi all

I did a search and couldn't find anything.....

Today I was merging onto a tollway and as the merge lane is super short I gave it the heavy right to accelerate from about 35 on up to 60.... the transmission seemed to pause and then the engine stumbled and just died. It was like I was engine braking on a downhill corner. I took my foot off the accelerator and it kept winding down and sputtering to the point I genuinely thought it was going to stop right in the middle of the oncoming traffic.

I gave it a gentle bit of throttle and it just started to drive normal, and then once I was up to speed it accelerated and kicked down fine.

Seems like a fuel starvation issue to me...... is there anything else I should be looking at before I go back to the dealer (who have yet to fix any of the electrical gremlins)??? I ask because I have noted a rough idle for a moment only when stopping and (although I'm happy about it) the start stop no longer operates?

Thanks

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into the concern you're having with your F150.

Took the truck into my dealer.... I have to wait until they have a loaner and then come back....

Then they will hopefully address all of the electrical issues (and the moonroof parts falling out) that have been unable to be addressed so far...

Called Customer Service as advised by the dealer only to be told a case can't be raised until the truck is actually back at the dealer......

Guess I will stay off the Tollway (not sure I want to cause an accident by stopping in a 65mph lane)...

Love my truck but....

Kinda reminds me of an 2002 car I had which had a bum camshaft position sensor. Was fine unless you got it really revving, then it would stumble, or if you were really lucky, make horrible banging noises. Hopefully the dealer sorts it out quickly.

Maybe a long shot . I had an expedition before my f150 and had same behavior when spark plugs crapped out from decay and carbon plating but at much higher mileage .

If there aren't any codes pending in the OBD, then hopefully the dealership has a good tech or two who can data log the engine parameters and compare it to another similar truck.

What would normally be a simple diagnosis twenty years ago can be almost anything these days. Which means that any new vehicle owners should drive their new trucks and cars in as many situations that they are comfortable with while still under warranty.

Good luck!

I spoke about this with the dealer tech. Have had some experience poking around in BMW software (necessary when you own an X5) so he was certainly receptive to seeing what could be gleaned....

I expect the reality though is that I'm in for a long and painful process.

Don't hesitate to take it to another dealership if the initial one can't or won't figure out the issue. I had a seemingly simple problem involving poor door fitment and was forced to take the truck to a much farther away dealer, which fixed it without question or fanfare in less than fifteen minutes. The first dealership acted like they had no idea what was wrong, gaslighting and sandbagging me the whole way until I gave up on them after several months. I wouldn't let their service department feed a goldfish if it were up to me after that experience!
