I think most of us just want open/honest communication from Ford. The fact they remain silent and try to peddle bull shit like they are building/shipping in order they were received via their customer service reps is what has totally turned me off from Ford for my next purchase. I buy new every 4 to 5 years and most of my life have gone with GM and had been pretty happy over the last 25 yrs. I totally understand the chip industry, I'm in the electronic manufacturing sector so I know very well the struggles today and what will continue into late 2022, but the way Ford has handled this, it has really soured me.

It's a business and these shortages are unprecedented. Ford is going to do whatever that is cheapest for them.. as would anyone owning a business of that scale. I am sure they have a room of people running spreadsheets of costs for each scenario.. it sucks... but let's hope it starts to iron out here in the coming weeks.
Ford makes billions in profits every year.
They can afford to take the hit for the shit show they have created with these parked trucks.
Why should we take the hit of waiting and delaying many summer plans and vacations for some. I have seen several posts where people have purchased new RV trailers with plans of towing them with their new trucks and are now scrambling to figure something out. We were all willing to give them our hard earned money. Clearly they can and are building and shipping trucks. THEY HAVE THE PARTS AND MAN POWER TO FIX THIS.

Ask your dealer about a COPV from the Ford rep. My dealer reordered for the same price and insured rebated were locked in. Problem is unless you jumped on this you will be waiting until September anyway for a new order.
Don’t know what a COPV is but I would be happy with a fresh one in September rather than an old weathered one in October.

First off not trying to get anyone excited. Strictly my own opinion....

Wouldn't argue with anything you said... however, I could be wrong but the people making the decisions are worried about their bonus... not taking a hit to make it right. There may be a few who jump ship and go to a different brand.. but the majority won't.
It's win win as if everyone re orders they Also look good high sales etc..

Side note my dealer is confident stuff is and will speed up movement... not being told to re order

I don't think the doubling or trippling up on orders helps ford in any way. They only have a certain amount of line capacity and whether they build for you and me or build for the dealer, they are going to trying to keep their asset utilization as high as possible. I think ford is in trouble this year trying to hold onto #1 and will get around to shipping as much as possible before year end to try and make up for lost ground. At the end of the day, they have to try and impress the board and share holders, their #1 concern.

Open and honest communication would go a long way right now. Would calm a lot of customers down and put them at ease a little. Including me.
I too purchase a new truck every 3-4 years and flip back and forth between Ford and Chevy. One is as good as the other. They have to be. Obviously Ford won me over this time. I’m not buying that chip excuse here lately. They are pumping out out many new trucks. They’re showing up at my dealer almost daily this week.

In addition, the reports of dealers now asking for drivers license verification on retail orders makes me think they are going to sniff out those people that ordered multiple trucks.

That drivers licence thing is standard here in Ontario.
Always has been.
Handed that over right away as soon as the deal was done.

It was standard for my order also, but not all dealers do it. This week, it was reported corporate was making the dealers verify custom orders by providing a drivers license. That tells me they are going to audit the parking lot trucks. One, to verify dealers are not placing fake custom orders to get more stock...two, to weed out people re-ordering multiple trucks in hopes to get one.

So what was the alternative, shut down completely and lay people off? They kept people employed, kept them working, and did what they could. To now say, put all chips in the already finished trucks doesn't work. That makes every single truck they build take longer b/c the tire guy isn't finishing PCM's. He needs a vehicle to put tires on. If they continue making unfinished trucks, to finish the older ones, then the new ones take longer to build. At some point, you just bite the bullet and do what is best all the way around. Should they give some rebates for those who wait like x amount per month, extended warranty for issues, etc. yes probably but financially, to protect themselves and their employees, the priority has to be making the line run as normal as possible and get to the others when they can. Again, just my opinion as I am frustrated with the wait and uncertainty as well but I understand their reasoning.
They could have build the trucks by order date? They could cancel all dealer stock order and ship the unfinished truck once They are complète and build New truck for us? I don't know but I know that I ordered my truck in september and will get it after april/may order, this make me very frustrated.

I hope that isn't true b/c I ordered two, one for my son and one for my daughter, as they are both in college and I wanted to surprise them both but with one being a year older than the other, my son never gets a surprise b/c he knows eventually he will get what his sister gets lol.

Yeah, they could "rebuild" the orders as completed trucks now and use the "stockpile" to send to dealers and dealer stock once they decide to finish them.

Sure they have the chips to get a few lines running, but Ford and many other manufacturers have lines down. If ford was back up running all lines, they may still have inventory issues to finish our trucks, they need more chips each week than what is required to keep all their lines running and finish the back log. The semi conductor shortage is real and the industry was a high risk with high capacity before the fire at Renesas. The number of wafer manufacturers is a very small number and thus we all feel the impact when one company goes offline.
