Going from the factory Hanook 275 to General 305, basically both are 33" tall, but 10" vs 12" and 40ish vs 60ish lbs. respectively. So wider and heavier than the factory tire. Getting that heavier tire to rotate (acceleration) is where I noticed a change. Not terrible, I almost don't notice it, nevertheless it's an increase of ~20 lbs. of rotational mass now. I do feel that I'm driving more aggressively (find myself 5-10 MPH over the limit lately) but I don't know if it's because I feel invincible, over compensating for the heavier tires, or hyper aware of the changes I made. I think once I start driving normal again, I won't notice anything. I did get to the lake on New Years and I didn't notice any change in light to light traffic or going up a known step grade in Austin between 360 and 620 on 2222; she just stayed in 7th gear and pulled like a champ.

I'm asking about the pedal commander because even before the wider/heavier tires, I felt I needed a little more zip in my take offs.

I did look into re-gearing, but man-o-man, the thought of tearing into a new truck made me tear up a little. And then after reading a rear diff gearing comparison article in Trailer Boat I felt better about the 3.31 and the 5.0.
I'll let you know how it is once I install it and try it out a bit! Seemed guys on here liked it a fair bit so I figured I'd give it a whirl

That's OK, I didn't notice it either

How do you like the Pedal Commander @Nomis ?

Hey bud I installed the pedal commander and I'd say it's worth it. Drove it to town and back to play with it a bit and Sport + is almost too much.

I have the eibach and tires and everything installed and the PC completely changes how the truck reacts to throttle.

Thanks for the update @Nomis ! That's good to hear. I was sorta waiting to hear from on your test :) It's not bad the way it is and Sport mode is too much and I have to remember to select it.

What mode did you end up using?

Pedal Commander changes the feel of the truck!

I was skeptical at first but now a believer in the product.

I'm getting 19.5L/100km but I live in a small city that is nothing but short trips. Lots of idling as well. Just installed 285/60/20 KO2s so I'm sure the gas mileage will get slightly worse.

You used to be able to get the 3.55's in the 5.0, my 2015 had the 3.31 gear, but I remember the 3.55 was available, my brother and dad's 2018's both have the 3.55. I was kind of surprised that when I ordered my 2023 this week that the 3.55 was no longer an option. I went with the 3.31 this time around too, because most of my driving is highway and I wanted the fuel economy.

I have a 2022 Lariat Sport Appearance package, 4x4 with 3.31 Rear end, removed the rear blocks and put a full Eibach suspension on itand so much more done to it.
Wanting to put a Whipple SC on it, and was slightly worried aobut the 3.31 gears. Should I be? and what else should I know or do to it for the SC to go on and run smoothly, it is an everyday driver that I want to scream, it is my third vehicle that I do drive as a daily 2-3 days a week and want it to still be smooth and reliable. Can you give me some tips and suggestions?

Once you put the whipple on it you will have tons of torque. Your 3:31 gears will be fine. Probably be better than having 3:73 gears.

I have a FP/Whipple and has a 3.31 Super 8 (8.8). In some ways the 3.31 is slightly stronger. Meaning a 3.73 pinion gear is smaller than a 3.31. From a start will a 3.73 feel snappier than a 3.31, maybe, but trust me add a supercharger you won’t tell ?

The difference NA is huge but the whipple evens it out pretty good. My 3.31 geared truck was a rocket, with 3.73 your just carrying the rpm a little higher at the same speeds and unless your comparing side by side your not gong to notice.

I love my 5.0/3.31, the highway efficiency is great and it’s got gobs of passing power. From a dead stop mine is good too, but my STX Supercab is pretty light so I don’t feel any ill effects of the 3.31 down low. That may be different if I had a crew lariat. Thinking of doing a Lariat next, so will prob order 3.73 in that one.

What whipple’s did you all have installed? Stage 1, stage 2, ford performance whipple stage 1 etc. and any of you have issues like this whining tweeting noise I have read about?
Any suggestions which one to have installed and why?

I had the gen 5 stage 2 with the 3.31 truck and it had the whistling throttle body which was annoying. I have a gen 5x stage 1R for the 3.73 truck which has everything but the throttle body.
I think the truck is great with both gear ratios but if I were ordering it I would do 3.73s with the locker.

Ford Performance/Whipple (Whipple stage 1 with Fords tuning). Purposely wanted the milder, “safer” setup. Looking into downpipes now to let all that air and heat out as quickly as possible.

Do I have 3.73 envy, maybe a little, but I’m very impressed with how my truck behaves with a 3.31.
