265/70/18 vs 275/65/18

After deciding that an E rated tire was way overkill for my world, I realized that the only decent viable SL options in 275/70/18 are aggressive all terrains which will just look silly on my 2WD truck. Currently I have 265/60/18 which equates to 30.5" in diameter and 10.4" wide. Looking at either going to 265/70/18 (same width as stock but 32.6" tall) or 275/65/18 (wider at 10.8" but not quite as tall coming in at 32.1"). In comparing tires they are about the same price and weight so it really just comes down to preference.

TLDR: Basically is it better to be 1/2" taller or wider when it comes to tires given the option?

I like wider for safety purposes. You need to watch the height of the tire to try and maintain speedometer accuracy. There are sites online that will help you breakdown the specs on your current tires and what sizes and aspects the new tires new tires might cause. Heights should be very close.

Appreciate the reply! I'm not worried about fixing the speedo with Forscan luckily. Still figuring it out which way to go.

I like 70's versus 75's. I put 55's on my 2014 and they did great. They were all season tires and did a great job shedding water in the rain. Pirelli Scorpions.
