Hi everyone - I have a 2022 Platinum that came stock with the folding rear seat storage. I found I never used it and kept it folded in as the dog bed was there. For road trips our Yeti cooler kept falling over (1st world problem).
After some research I found it was very easy to remove and thought I would share. I am loving the extra space and the fully flat rear.
First I removed the actual unit, which is just 4 bolts to unscrew.
There are then 4 bolts sticking up which cannot be removed. They are not reverse threaded but bolted from the bottom of the vehicle. I used an angle grinder and trimmed them off. There are some divots in the floor and I used some foam strips to fill in the space. It's not the prettiest but it works fine. I purchased a Husky rear seat mat but I would recommend getting the weathertech. It is a much harder rubber so you won't feel any of the divots.
