Hey everyone, I’m new here but thought I’d share something for anyone who’s done or is planning to do the 12" Sync 4 retrofit. You’ve probably noticed the camera quality looks pretty bad after the upgrade. All trims actually use the same camera, but the difference is in how the video gets to the APIM. On the 8" system, it’s an analog feed that goes from the IPMA through two wires to the large connector on the APIM. Higher trims use a digital feed that goes through the IPMA and then to the APIM using a dedicated cable.

To fix the quality issue, you can run a wire between the IPMA and the APIM. Just make sure you’re using a 12" APIM, since the 8" one doesn’t have the right connector for the digital feed.

Parts Needed...
IPMA to Connector: ML3Z-10E929-FAA
Connector to APIM: ML3Z-10E929-FBA

You will take "FAA" & remove the purple clip, then remove the pin. (Repeat this to Pin into the IPMA Connector[C242F])

Next You'll be left with these two cables, attach them then add the Pin to the IPMA connector (PIN 1)[C242F]

Route the wire alongside the OEM Harness above the pedals & use zip-ties! Then connect the end to the Brown APIM Connector below the GPS antenna connector.

Once the wire has been routed & installed that is all. Now FORSCAN, There's only two changes needed... IPMA & APIM.

(IPMA) 706-01-01 xxxx xxxx x0xx
0 to 8
1 to 9
2 to A
3 to B
4 to C
5 to D
6 to E
7 to F

(APIM) 7D0-01-02 x0xx xxxx xxxx
0 to 1
2 to 3
4 to 5
6 to 7
8 to 9
A to B
C to D
E to F

I've attached a diagram to show which pin to add to the IPMA connector as well as instructions to disassemble the dash.(YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE SCREEN, ONLY REMOVE THE LOWER TRIM)

I’m still confused on how you get the signal from the camera to connect to the APIM

Not sure what you mean? The camera & wiring up to the IPMA are identical across all trims. No need to modify anything there. To be clear here's the route the video feed takes.

CAM -> IPMA -> APIM

It's the way it goes from the IPMA to the APIM that matters.

Ok, signal out the IPMA into the APIM. I was thinking IPMA had to be bypassed
Thanks for clearing it up
