I just got my 2024 F-150 XLT 302A Super Crew Cab and my 60 side rear seat base does not latch in the down position. The 40 side does lock down. I read through the owners manual and could not find any references. Is this correct?

My 2022 is essentially the same spec as yours (XLT 3.5EB, Supercab, FX4). And my rear seats are the same.

Since the 'small' side has a baby seat permanently installed for my grandson, I don't fiddle with it much. But the convenience of just being able to 'lift' the other side to access storage underneath has really grown on me. Like you, I assumed it should lock down, but thinking about I realized it didn't need to. The weight of the seat structure, let alone the body weight of passenger(s), is enough to keep it firmly down.

I am curious from a safety i.e. rollover perspective if this is not a safety issue. IIRC Ford got litigiated for deaths and injury due to the F-150 roof crusing in on passengers due rollover accidents. I would prefer it would lock down.

I have a 2022 as well and always thought it was odd it didn’t lock down.

I can lock the base of the 60 side down with a key in my 24 XLT, but that could be part of the mobile office package.

Interesting -- I'd think any trim that has the battery/s under the rear pass seat would lock down (though resulting in the entire fleet performing like that). I'd attributed to it as a secondary retention for the battery.
