2023 wifi hotspot won’t connect

Got a 2023 XLT. First road trip today and the wifi hotspot all set up with the free trial. Go to hook it up on iPhone and my sons iPad the wifi will connect but then won’t work and says no internet connection. Tried logging out and back in and still nothing. Anyone encountering this issue and know how to fix?

Taking into consideration you activated the hotspot with AT&T, its assigned a phone number, and shows in an account @

Are you sure you're in a good AT&T reception area?

No still full on the 3GB just started it up today. Was driving on I29 from SD to Omaha I assume that would be good ATT coverage but I don’t know for sure I use Verizon up here of course

What do coverage maps show in that area for AT&T?

Right. My cell phone is Verizon is what I meant. Does that matter?

I don't have any troubleshooting ideas beyond what I said.

Have you called the Car Connected Department @ AT&T?

I never got the wifi to work during my free trial. It would connect and do the same thing. I'm in the NYC suburbs so network coverage not a problem. My phone connected to the wifi network in the truck and the wireless Android auto over wifi functions fine but if I turned off my phones 4/5g I never had an internet connection. I just never paid for the service once the trial was up. Nice thought but if it can't work while it's free they've lost me...

Both issues are strange.

A previous FCA vehicle had a similar issue. it was back and forth with AT&T. Later, it was reported as a known issue. never resolved.

I doubt I will renew the trial in the Ford. I have hotspot capability on my AT&T phone.

I notice my android phone disconnects from my home wifi when it connects to wireless android auto. I'm guessing the phone can't connect to both wireless android auto and any other wifi at the same time.

Issues with other devices besides the android auto/car play device - I got nothing.

I never tried with my hotspot demo because I have unlimited hotspot on my phone (ok 45G at 5G speed and unlimited slower after that) and my phone can share its internet connection (cellular or wifi) through the hotspot function.
