I'm looking at buying a 2023 F150 XL, SuperCrew, 4X4, 5.0 V8, 6.5' bed, Trailer Tow Package.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to get tinted windows all the way around and rear HVAC vents. My Google-fu must not be that great.

From what I can tell, in order to do get tint and rear HVAC vents, I would need to order the STX package. What I'm not 100% sure of is whether or not rear HVAC vents come in the center console on the standard STX package or if that requires the flow through console. Would any members here be able to confirm if rear HVAC vents come with the standard STX package or if that also requires the flow through console?

Also, if my understanding is correct, is the payload for the truck described above 2135 lbs.? Does the STX package affect the payload at all? If so, by about how much?

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie.

So many good tint installers out there and always having to tint the front windows anyway on my vehicles makes that an after purchase decision for me.

Center console would have rear vents from all the photos I've seen online but I'm sure someone here that owns one will have a response.

I got answers from two dealerships today regarding center console mounted rear HVAC vents. Both said the center console vents come standard; STX package is not needed.

I also asked about the Class IV trailer hitch vs. the standard tow package. It sounded like the only difference was the standard tow package has the trailer brake controller and backup assist (I already knew that) but it also includes something called a Smart Tow Connector. I'm guessing that's the thing on the upper right of the license plate. What exactly is the Smart Tow Connector?

Also, for some reason, the tow rating increases from 7000 lbs to 9300 lbs with the standard tow package, but there isn't anything like an additional oil or transmission cooler. Am I missing something as to why the tow rating increases without something that would obviously increase it? Does the 5.0L V8 already have an oil cooler and a transmission cooler?

The 5.0L does have a pretty intense oil cooler and twin fan radiator setup. The transmission cooler is a coolant to trans fluid heat exchanger on the 10R80 no matter which package. With no factory hitch option the tow rating is 5,000 pounds, with only 53B (Class IV hitch) the tow rating is 7,000 pounds, with 53A (tow pack) it’s 9,300 pounds (I think), and with Max tow it’s 13,300 pounds for the 5.0. Here is my window sticker, mine was optioned with class IV receiver and integrated trailer brake controller. I have the Smart Connector 4/7 pins as well as the dynamic hitch assist, but no tow technology pack means no pro backup knob. Mine is the 7,000 lb rating. The tow ratings I posted here only apply to the 5.0 V8 and 3.5 TT for non tow tech pack trucks, other engines have lower ratings than the two premium engines. Refer to tow guide for 3.3/2.7.
