2023 F150 3.5 ecoboost Max Towing capacity

Hello everyone, Im Marlon, Im new to this forum. I have a question, how can i find my truck max towing capacity ? My truck is a 2023 F150 XLT Supercrew Short bed 3.5 ecoboost 4x4 3.55 (rear locking differential), GVWR #7050, 1870 lbs of payload. Class IV hitch (weight carrying 500 lbs - 5000 lbs and weight distributing 1160lbs - 11600 lbs). My truck has only 1 leaf spring and one that is thicker. Thanks for your help

I can't tell you exactly, but I can guarantee you that it can pull more than it can carry. It's a torque monster for a 1/2 ton.

So your Payload capacity will be the real limiter, rather than the Tow capacity.

If it’s Class IV receiver only it’s 7000 LBS for both 5.0 & 3.5 EB. All 3.5 EB are 9.75 rear regardless of package. Now, your only legal binding numbers are GVWR so legally you can exceed that 7,000 pounds. I have found no evidence that after 2021 tow package changes the radiator from a regular class IV equipped truck…..in fact Ford parts only shows two radiator for 5.0. Regular and max tow. So the standard tow package buys ~nothing~ in the way of a radiator. In all reality the only hardware change I can find the tow package buys is solid sway bars. You are paper limited if you don’t have the tow pack, but I don’t know how that stupid backup knob adds 2,000 pound of capacity? Magic?

Sorry if I went too in depth fast, Fords towing guide shows if no tow package is listed it’s 7,000 lbs maximum for towing. Do you have the pro-backup knob? If you have this knob above the 4WD selector you have the towing package I believe.

No I dont have the pro-backup knob. But I have everything else except the knob

Do you have a 7 pin and 4 pin trailer connector and brake controller? If you do, my guess is you at least have the 53A tow package (MY22 option code, assuming it’s the same or similar for MY23).

If you do, and have a 3.5EB with 3.55 gears in a SuperCrew, you will be somewhere between ~11,300 and ~13,900 lbs towing capacity for conventional towing. Since you have an XLT, I’d say you’re probably in the middle to low side of that range.

If you don’t, it’s 7k.

As mentioned, your payload (with tongue weight) will be your limiting factor anyway.

If you are wanting to pull a trailer that weighs 11,600 lbs, I sure hope it’s small and you don’t have to tow it very far for very long ?

I don’t know about the 5.0, but a 3.5 with trailer tow+ and all Poweboosts get an upgraded radiator.

Max tow gets all that and bigger rear brakes, extra receiver/bumper to frame brackets, solid sway bar and a rear axle that likes to shear off axle retainer bolt heads complete with a fresh new recall.

53A includes pro backup knob. My truck has Trailer brake controller and class IV receiver with 4 & 7 pin. It still is 7,000 lbs max. See my window sticker, TBC and hitch can be optioned a la carte. Doesn’t require any tow packages.

Yes, i have the 7 pin and 4 pin trailer connector, brake controller and my rear bumper is upgraded because where the chains go, the brackets are angled.
