Just got off the phone with Les Schwab about my post level alignment scheduled for tomorrow. They say leveling will require recalibration of the various computer systems and were selling a $200 upcharge for that service--almost twice the cost of the alignment. I was under the impression that no recalibration was needed. And if something--i.e. Bluecruise, ACC or 360 cameras--started acting up, FORScan could recalibrate those systems. Am I right?

If it matters, my level is relatively modest ~0.75, just for a little breathing room for bigger tires in the future. I do have Bluecruise. I was planning on seeing if I had any problems post level and trying to fix it with FORScan if anything arose.

On a separate thought, I was curious as to how they knew I had any systems that could need calibration. They know I have a Tremor, but not what trim level or features. Wonder what exactly they thought they would be recalibrating, and with what software?

Best, JB

I leveled my 21 Lariat with a 2 inch and had to do no such thing. They are just covering their ass. Alignment machines also tell you the modules have to be recalibrated. Thankfully there is a next button. Just say you only need the alignment. Nothing else.

No problem! Make sure to get print outs of the alignment too so you know it’s in spec. 👍

Got the alignment done, and did not do the recalibration. I tested ACC and Bluecruise before the alignment (after the lift) and after the alignment--worked fine in all cases. The 360 camera view looks fine also. So in my case, the recalibration did not seem necessary. Also I realize my math was wrong on my lift, it was closer to 1.5", rather than 0.75".

I installed the SPC HD caster/camber kit during the install, so I had the stock LCA bolts out, but marked the alignment before removal. I reinstalled the LCAs as close to the marks as possible, and looks like I got pretty damn close to a good alignment. I'm surprised that that the lift--let alone replacing the adjustment bolts--did change the alignment more.

Good call on marking the bolts. I work at a shop and installed a KSP 2” leveling kit on mine. I had to adjust toe about .1 of a degree on each side. Camber was in spec without issue. I bet the tremor looks good. 👍

You may not have needed any of those parts. I've put a 1.5" Auto Spring level on two F150s and it was still in spec for toe/camber after. If you use a 2" or more it gets out of whack.

Thanks! I still need to get some bigger tires on the truck. But it's funny how just 1.5" makes the truck look bigger.

The SPC HD eccentrics and brackets hold the alignment adjustment much more strongly (i.e., offroad abuse resistant) and are easier to adjust than the naked bolts that come stock. Another item that I do not understand why Ford doesn't invest just a little more money to make the truck stronger and easier to work on. Also it was much easier to drop the shocks out the bottom by removing the LCA bolts, so I was down there anyway and might as well upgrade the stock alignment bolts. It was a pretty easy upgrade.
