I have had my truck right at a year and have posted about several issues I have had. Luckily I have gotten every issue resolved except one.....the rattle noise. I took it to my dealership for the third time and they said the headliner frame was broken....so they replaced it. The rattle was still there. In trying to figure it out one day I opened the moon roof cover.....still a rattle.....I opened the moon roof completely and low and behold NO RATTLE! So now I am almost 100% sure this rattle (sounds like something is loose) is coming from the moonroof. I have driven the truck at a very low speed and swerved back and forth basically rocking the truck back and forth and can create the rattle noise that way as well as going over even the most mild uneven road conditions (bumps). I have watched videos about the seal of the moonroof and how it needs to be cleaned and lubed. I've also seen a video about 2015 f150's and the wind guard arms having too much "play" in them from side to side which could cause it.....my question is this.....the rattle goes away when the moonroof is completely open.....what would that mean to anyone out there who has dealt with this. Also, I am still under warranty so don't feel like I should have to fix this myself.....wanting to take it back to the dealer again.

Does the rattle remain when you vent the roof? Spit balling here, but there could be a track wheel that only engages when the roof is open and is loose and rattling in the track when the roof is closed. Because the roof dips down and slides under the other glass panel, it would make sense to me that there is something in the mechanism that only is engaged when open.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

It sounds like we have the same situation going on as I can repeat the noise at low speed by turning back and forth. Have you had any luck getting it fixed?

So here is what has happened since this post….I watched a youtube video that said you have to clean the seal and then spray white lithium grease into the seal with the moonroof closed. For about two weeks the truck rode beautifully then I started to hear it again. It has not been near as bad but it still comes and goes. What I have figured out now is that when I hear it if I open it completely and then shut it the rattle goes away. I’ve taken it back to the dealership but they say they dont hear it even though I have had two different techs ride with me and hear it….they said because they couldnt hear it at that time there wasnt anything they could do. I am convinced there is something loose or not quite right with the moonroof and I just need it to get repaired. On top of all this I now realized that my center console lid has no resistance when it shuts. If I open it and dont hold it open it just slams shut. I went to the dealer and had them let me try one in a truck like mine (with fold out work surface) and it will catch itself on the way down and not shut all the way. Mine sounds like someone is slamming a house door. I’m about ready to file under lemon law with this thing. It has right under 20k miles and I have not gotten to just enjoy driving it yet. It has been one issue after another….oh and the cardboard like cover underneath the truck is now hanging because it has ripped away from the bolts….fun times.
