This posting is more of a heads up to fellow owners. In August 2021, I finally received my long awaited Platinum ordered January 2021. Since receipt of the vehicle I have had it in the shop for various reason ranging from front end alignment, to engine lights. Overall since I had took ownership my vehicle has been to the shop 15 times. The most recent issue is the engine light keeps coming on.
The Ford app states it's for the emissions system and a fault with the fuel tank. The first two times I brought in the truck for this issue they would run some tests and change a part and out the door it went. Each time I would drive between 75-150 miles and the engine light would come on.
I brought the truck in for the third time, but when I dropped it off I asked them to please fix this issue. They kept the truck an entire week and I picked it back up on a Monday. On Tuesday, I brought the truck back in as the engine light came back on again. They troubleshot for a week and couldn't understand what was happening so they called in a Ford Engineer.
The Engineer troubleshot the truck and found a bad wiring harness. The Engineer contacted Ford and stated he could either splice in a new connector or replace the wiring harness. When I found out about this, I told my dealership I would not accept a splice wiring harness. The next day Ford contacted the engineer and stated that the wiring harness was not authorized to be spliced and had to be replaced. As they replaced the wiring harness a whole new set of issues started happening. The engineer contacted Ford again and told them the issues. Ford condemned then entire wiring harness and that it needed to be completely replaced.
This repair is removing the entire interior of the truck, and removing the cab and bed of the truck. The truck has now been at my dealer for 21 days awaiting on a wiring harness which is now on back order behind 300+ other harnesses. My dealership stated the Engineer informed them the truck is safe to drive just ignore the warning lights that may or may not come on.
I contacted Ford and informed them my truck now has been at the service department cumulatively for 48 days and counting. In my personal opinion this truck is not safe to drive because you will have no idea if any of the warning lights are real or not.
I request a Case # to begin the process of the Repurchase/Replacement vehicle. According to NM Lemon Law I have a Lemon. #0 Days in the service depart or 4 or more times for one issue.
So if you are continually seeing Engine lights this issue could be just like what I am going through.
