My previous 2015 King Ranch had Deployable Running Boards with a height of 11" from the top to the ground. My new 2021 Platinum has Deployable Running Boards with a height of 14" which makes is somewhat harder to get in and out for someone with mobility issues. Not sure why Ford decided to raise them. Is there such a thing as Deployable Running Board extenders or any aftermarket to lower the boards?

I was told by a salesman that the additional 3” higher running board step made the step more user friendly to reach things in the bed of the truck. I thought the step’s primary purpose was to get riders in and out of the truck. This was not an upgrade IMO

Ford or an aftermarket company needs to work on this. Possibly upgrading the retractable mount while still using the provided long running boards and switches. Major disappointment from the previous model.

Yes it is! Also slow, loud and buggy. Amp steps would be a huge upgrade!

In the past I believe AMP research made the OEM power deployable running boards for Ford. Is this not true anymore?

Correct. Amp does make aftermarket boards for the 21 now.

This makes sense. They are a great height for reaching into the bed and for washing the roof. I have heard the current 2021 running boards are made by AMP.
