Hey All,
Posting my current build to help others who are looking to do something similar. Newer to me truck, purchased December of 24 with 26k. Came from a 2018 Platinum Tundra that was totaled unfortunately. Got a good sized check for my paid off Tundra but with the used car market at its peak at the time especially for Toyota buying another outright meant a small payment and a stock truck(had a level and 35’s). So went the Ford route and was able to buy it outright and have some money leftover. After some research settled on the 2.7l as it seemed more reliable, better gas mileage and I don’t tow/haul anything besides stuff for home/woodworking projects.
Specs:
2021 Lariat 502A with FX4 and Sport package, 36 gallon tank.
2.7l Ecoboost
Mods so far:
Front windows tinted to match rear
Stubby antenna
Bedliner
Husky rear wheel liners
Removed active air damn and valence
Resonator delete along with Flowmaster FX muffler. Nice rumble for sure but not annoying or loud.
Bilstein 6112 and 5160 with the front set to 2”/clip #5. Would probably go to highest clip setting to get it dead level vs the tiny bit of rake I have now.
KMC Impact wheels satin black 17”
Falken Wildpeak AT4W in 285/75/17. These have been great so far in the almost year of having them especially in the wet roads we have here in the PNW. I had BFG KO2’s on my Tundra and they slipped a bunch when it was wet out.
Random issues I have had though was a rear slider leak that got water into the cab and had a musty smell for days. Just started in the late spring/summer and just figured it out this past month. The seal itself had failed and water was getting through the slider and the seal itself at the bottom of the windshield. Replaced with a fixed piece of glass as I never used the slider really.
Overall love the truck though. Super comfortable, Lariat trim is really nice even compared to Platinum trim Tundra. The screen is nice with all the tech involved, remote start, lights that come on when you walk up, etc. Truck is super quick and the 2.7 is really fun to drive. Still managing 18-19mpg for my short mixed commute of highway/city. Have gotten around 22mpg on road trips. The Falkens are a bit heavier than others so I’m sure it could be a bit better with something else.
