Hello all,

I have recently purchased a used 2021 F150 platinum with the 5.0 v8. My issue I am having involves the ac power outlets inside the truck The outlet works for the first few mins of the drive (orange led indicator stays solid) then the led turns off and is no longer suppling power. Oddly enough it does not do this all the time usually only messes up during the day the the temps are higher around 80+ but at night the outlets work perfect. What gives? Is the inverter in the back seat over heating? Loose ground? I am at a loss.

Because it is during the day, I suspect the inverter is over heating or the temp sensor is not reading the correct temp. What do you have plugged in to the outlets? These inverters are rated at 400 watts or about 3.3 amps max.

The only thing I have ever plugged in is my iPhone 14 with an Apple usbc charger. And when the inverter stays on it works fine. Is the temp sensor built into the inverter?

It should be there to protect the inverter from over heating. Check around the inverter and make sure there is nothing covering it or could block any type of air flow. I am not sure if there is a fan in these units. I have only used mine a couple of times and it has been ok. If the truck is still under warranty, get the dealer to check it or replace it.

I took the plastic cover off of the inverter today and left the seats folded up to see if that would help. It did not. Same results with or without anything plugged in to the outlets. There is a fan on the side of the inverter however it is not spinning with or without my phone charger plugged in. So does that mean the inverter needs to be replaced?

I got around to plugging my computer into the truck today. I ran ForScan for DTC's and turned on Bambi Mode and turned off the double honk when you get out with your key fob.

Anyways, I found two DTC's in the BodyCM B1330 - DC/AC Inverter Module - Component or System Operating Conditions and B1330 DC / AC Inverter Module - Bus Signal / Message Failures. Not sure what either of these mean but I just thought I would share.

Yes! It as has been resolved. I took it to my local ford dealer and they followed this tsb.

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10218622-0001.pdf

I bought an extended warranty when I bought the truck and it covered the repair. Apparently there was a short in the wiring harness for the bed outlet and it caused the inverter to turn off shortly after start up. They ended up replacing the bed outlet and the wiring harness as described in the tsb.

THere is a TSB in regards to the front outlet needing to be replaced. It caused the DTC mentioned.
