I have a 2024 F150 RCSB XL 4x4 and have been wanting to set it up for my two way radios. I have an icom 2700H and president grant FCC that I use for road trips.
I’m not a fan of putting the radio on the dash or on the floor because it’s hard to hear and clutters things up. Given my XL didn’t come with a factory center speaker, I bought a complete dash center speaker assembly on eBay and fabricated a 6’ harness.
I have total control over the volume now and plenty of cable length to place the radio anywhere under the dash. With a longer cable, I could mount a radio behind the front seats now.
Im thinking about making these if anyone is interested. I made a 6’ harness for my truck but could make 8 or 10’ harnesses just as well. I made mine with a straight headphone cable, but also use a 90 degree elbow plug.
I used to do radio wiring back in the early 1990s, so this was a fun project.
Let me know what you think. It’s a ford factory speaker connector on one end and 3.5mm headphone jack on the other.
