Drove about 2 minutes from my house today and had an alert in dash about over temperature coolant. Turned and went back home. Checked coolant reserve and it was low. Ended up taking almost a full gallon to get it halfway between the min/max line. No visible signs of a leak anywhere. I park in garage and there’s nothing on the ground.

called service at dealer they it needs checked out but no openings till middle of next week. Said it’s fine to drive in interim but to keep eye in coolant.

2021 2.7 liter with 40,000 miles.

any thoughts on what’s going on?

Hi there! I can look into your F-150's leak concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your F-150’s VIN?

How is the exhaust once the engine is warm? Any signs of white fog/mist coming out?
When the engine is warm if you sniff around the engine is there a coolant (sweetish) smell?
A coolant leak won't always hit the ground if it is small enough, it could be pooling then evaporating or vaporizing if hitting warm parts...this would be in small amounts and take time for your level to drop but if you don't ever look at your coolant level you'd never know.
Any coolant smell in the cab from the heater core?
Of course there's' always the head gasket and cracked head/block possibility and if the 2.7 has water cooled turbo's that could be a source of a leak.
