Damn, my 2.7 XL supercrew comes in within a few weeks and now I might be regretting not getting the PB. I figured new tech, better to play it safe on my first new vehicle of my life. But it sounds promising.. would have only been about $4k more for PB + the 7.2kw generator. I do have a tiny travel trailer but I don't really boondock with it, but that would have opened up options.

2021 F-150 Powerboost Platinum
I went from a 2015 XLT 2WD with the 2.7L to a 2021 Platinum Powerboost loaded up with panoroof, pro power, FX4 etc. I get better gas mileage in the 2021 PB than I did in the 2WD 2.7. The reason I stated the 21 was loaded up, leather, power running boards, moonroof, 4X4, etc all add weight. A lot of extra weight over my 15 2WD XLT. And it still beats in in MPG’s. In town I have seen as high as 35 on short trips around town. Average is around 25-27. Highway I get between 21-24. Depending on how heavy my foot is.

I will say the 21 Powerboost tows much better. I tow a trailer 2-3 days a week. The 21 PB barely even knows it’s there. While my 15 with the 2.7 I could definitely feel it struggle at times.
The onboard generator of the Powerboost is also a big benefit. Plus the way the PB starts and stops is not as annoying like the 2.7 was. The PB gas engine will stop but is running off the electric so you still have instant access to movement and torque. Plus your AC still blows cool and at the same rate. Unlike the 2.7 start stop where the engine turns off and you notice a slowness in AC fan and coolness.
Overall, I would absolutely buy the Powerboost again! No regrets!

Thank you everyone for the replies, probably going to stick with the 2.7

39,000 miles and I never reset the trip 1. Lifetime average is 20.5 MPG and that includes all engine idle time since it’s lifetime trip. This is a 2018 2.7LV6
