12" screen install using stock 8" apim

What do you mean by mongoose cable it? And what codes for PMI? Really appreciate the knowledge. I'm also trying to just do it with the old apim. Is that better?

Mongoose cable is what Ford uses to update/program your apim you can’t use the cable recommended by forscan has to be specifically mongoose as well so you can do a pmi on your new apim , after seeing 15+ people doing this it’s a 50/50 some people have slight issues others don’t have any at all

Acagro, hoping you may lend some insight. I did the install, tapped correct fuses. Screen turns on, Bluetooth connects, backup cam works, BUT none of the touchscreen buttons work and screen is buggy. Using original 8” APIM.

I have for scan and adjusted splash screen to 12” but still no luck with touchscreen. Anything I may be missing in Forscan perhaps to make this work?

i recently have done the mod on my 2023 xl, and used the supplied four pin plug to screen and tapped into 15amp fuse 29 , screen comes on for a few min then goes to sleep radio works and all , scouring the forums and internet, not finding enuff info on my issue, i have exhausted my google foo, and im here asking for help, i kept my 8inch apim and have a 12inch screen installed, sometimes the screen turns on with initial ignition and a small ford logo lights up corner of left upper screen then i can see 12inch screen for a few mins in this time i can touch screen and check settings then the screen goes none responsive and goes black, i purchased this kit from fordsync4.com, the harness that connects to the bottom of 8 apim has a built in 4pin plug that connects to screen and the other is fuse tapped into one of the 15amp blue fuses on the lower part of interior fuse box, i reached out to them and the return statement was the 12apim is needed, what am i doin wrong ... im in central tx if anyone can chime in

Yes so after seeing this be done by 15+ f150 owners I’ve realized using stock apim with 12” screen is a 50/50 some have absolutely no issues what so ever and other have same issues as you I’d recommend go ahead buy the apim , I did exact same setup for a friend and he was having issues yet I wasnt I have had to switch the apim as I need those fuses for radar and camera.

i was tryna get a quick fix the shop i purchased from fordsync4.com sent me a screen and all the fixens in the end i needed the 12 apim , installed and all worked as it should thank you for your input on this matter

yes you are correct sorry work keeps me off the phone but fuses 29 and 36 have to be tapped all the 12" apim does is provide that 12v power to the screen but that same power can be received from the FUSE BOX in passenger side ive seen vids where they get power from other sources and causes issues this is the safest way now if wire is done poorly there will be small issues like screen turning off or color issues so if doing this way make sure to crimp/solder everything right ,as for the ground just use the same ground thats behind the stock apim

12" screen can easily be installed using the Gore method with stock apim by tapping into fuse 29 and 36 and forscan change credit goes to john gore his the guru for this all info came from him will need cables wpt982 and ML3Z14D202B

Which forscan codes did you change. My loading screen is still the 8” and I would like to change it.

Very simple question. Did you disconnect the 12-volt systems (battery) before performing the work. I have a Powerboost and I have two batteries to disconnect if need be.

I'm considering the same upgrade. Can you tell me if you still get OTA updates? Fordsync4.com said I would not get OTA updates after using their kit.
