10R80 Whining when shifting gears

Hi folks. My 10R80 is recently starting making a whining noise right before every gear shift. The speed doesn’t matter. The whine is before the shift, so like when the solenoids in the valve body fire off. Anyone else have this? Otherwise been shifting great since the reset. No physical symptoms, but I can hear the whining over the radio and it’s getting quite annoying. It’s a little “woooot” before a gear change. Seems worse in the cold.

I haven’t had anything like that yet, just the odd shifting patterns. Although the shifting has gotten better the longer I’ve owned the truck. Depending on who you talk to, that 10-speed tranny is either awesome or a pos. I’m not sure which yet. Keep us posted on your findings. Good luck.

It’s been shifting great lately. Today it was quiet too. It seems this whine is only occurring when it’s sub- 32 Fahrenheit. It’s faint, but I notice it due to the pitch if that makes sense.

hopefully it'll be the cherry on top for my transmission from here on out...

That could be the rear gears which is normal in reverse.

My trans ALWAYS whines, but it's just the pump gears. It varies with transmission input shaft speed. It actually seems to be quieting down as I put some miles on it. Almost at 4k miles for White Lightning IIs first birthday.

Just to update this my transmission is now slipping from 4th to 5th gear. Seems to have started after the last forced OTA 2 nights ago…
