Looks to me like your slumming with the rest of us chipless MY22 guys
It's funny...in a way. This forum mirrors life to some degree. The early My23 guys start off posting all giddy, excited and optimistic at the start of their week, checking our tracking every 10 seconds knowing it will soon show as "built", and that we are somehow different, destined for F150 truck greatness. Then nothing...then delayed. We then turn to our elders, the MY22 posts and learn that we were not special, and that Ford had different plans for us, that we're destined to stand hopelessly, mired in a cold nameless field, sharing stories from our optimistically naïve build week youth. Now, the MY23 youngsters from build week 11/14 and 11/21 crop up, chippy, optimistic , excited and full of hope for their builds and the destiny Ford will provide… unknowing and ignorant of a future soon to behold them. Some surely will find greatness and the joy of freedom, traveling on that path less traveled in a shinny new truck. The others will soon stand next to us, in that cold unnamed field, telling stories of all the micro-chips that could have been, and reading the optimistic posts…from build week 11/28.

For what ever this update means. Looks like it was "produced" and shipped to body shop for spray-in on Oct. 31. Then says shipped offsite Nov. 2 for microchip hold. I assume that means sent off to rust somewhere for some amount of time with all the MY22 trucks.

I wonder how the chip installs go…

Say they get 1200 chip sets a day for whatever part is holding us up. Do they decide that 800 trucks off the line get them to decrease backload, and the other 400 split between the first trucks on the lot? Or do they split it 50/50?

We know they don’t prioritize by wait date because they have some 2023 trucks already getting shipped with the same build as older trucks on hold. Did every truck with bird shit on the passenger front fender get it?

I don’t get how it works

Since the 22 and 23 are the same vehicle except the 23 has more deletions, the 22's will be sold as 23 plus.

Great question. Some Ford bean cruncher has that formula. They probably need to keep the factory floor running at all costs. If they pause the assembly line to finish trucks in the field when they get new chips, the factory labor and bottle neck downtime is probably too big a financial loss and would lead to more delays and inefficiencies. Keeping the assembly line moving, pumping out trims with all available parts, and occasionally finishing enough from the field lots to replenish with new chip holds from the assembly line might be their thinking. My hopes are the special ordered field trucks on wheels (hold) would be finished before generic dealer orders, since those have already been sold. Those should take priority over those that unsold dealer inventory.

Ford recognizes revenue when they ship or when dealer receives? As long as they build/ship more “new”F150s per day vs “fix”“chiphold” F150 per day, they have an incentive to prioritize new builds.

I am now in the MY23 youth group. But I am a little different than most. I started my life in the MY22 back on May 11th. I never saw a VIN. I waited and I waited, as people ordering after me, on the last remaining days in May, getting VIN's, some even got their trucks. then at the end of September my MY22 was canceled by ford, never having a VIN.

Then I ordered again MY23 on October 4th. VIN received that week, with a build scheduled for 11/21. Unlike my fellow MY23 guys I know its a crap shoot. If I receive my Truck by End of year I will travel to Iowa Granger, pick up my new rig and immediately head to Vegas. Chances are it will be a straight shot home though and hopefully by May 11th of 2023 on the anniversary of my first order. Again that would be complete luck

I love everything about this post and how true it is! I am a MY23 11/21 build week youngster...but I did enough reading/homework to know that the chances of it sticking and this process going smooth is slim to none. I actually laughed when I got the email!!

The reality is, I actually don't want the truck in the middle of Chicagoland garbage winter weather! I ordered it in mid-October hoping it would be six months out! LOL I usually have horrible luck in life with these types of things. If the truck does come in the middle of winter, I just assume it will be a blizzard out when I pick it up at Granger and I'll end up getting stuck behind a snow plow who is dumping fresh salt on the road in front of me for the entire 5 hour drive home!!

Did they say ETA 11/25 to dealer or for the chip hold to be released? They told me 11/28 ETA to release the chip hold
