7 months!! lolNot like you haven't had 6 months to think about mods...
Congratulations.. Beautiful truck and looks like you had the mirror caps ready!FINALLY got to pick up the truck last Friday! It only took 8 months and a week to get it done. There was a scratch on the cab and I ended up with a chip in the door 3 days later after the dog jumped on it...but the dealer took care of both of those! All better now. I am pretty disappointed about the loss of the max recline seat...and the massage on the standard one. Overall though...I LOVE THIS TRUCK! It looks fantastic...drives great...and the Powerboost is pretty awesome! I'm getting better gas mileage in this thing than I was in my 2010 BMW 3 series. So...overall...WIN! It was worth the wait.
I changed out the license plate lights, the antenna, and the tow mirror caps right away. The Armorflex tonneau and wheel well liners will be here in a few days.
Here are a couple of obligatory driveway pictures

I think they look bad on the chrome package, too. The half chrome thing is weird looking. Pick one finish. Chrome or black, not both. I'm pretty sure I'll replace them with black caps when mine comes in. I liked the look of black in the couple incorrect renderings they give you of your order.Bummed to confirm that the mirror caps are chrome on a BAP! Ford really needs to take lessons from RAM on how to do black appearance.. Not that I would buy one, but the RAM night editions look like the whole truck was literally dipped in black paint!
Seriously! Train broke down? That seems way more far fetched than dog ate my homework!Funny.....
The delivery saga never ends. My train broke! Train was due to arrive in town saturday 7/23, but then the UP trace kept saying "Bad Load" whatever that means???? Now it says "released from repair" 7/23 estimated arrival 7/26 (at train yard). Not sure how long the truck portion to the dealer will take. I hope it doesn't break down, too!
Awesome to see all the pic of trucks being received. Can't wait to make one of those posts!
Based on the photos in my order, I was hoping they would be black too.. Because the order tracking photos all showed them black..I think they look bad on the chrome package, too. Rail car blues! Final destination is Central Alabama, and I have tracked it to Atlanta for a few days and got excited and now the damn thing is in Indiana?!? is it possible the truck was unloaded from the car and I am just tracking one of NS railcars that doesn't have my truck on it?Seriously! Train broke down? That seems way more far fetched than dog ate my homework!
Ugh... Hopefully the rest of the trip will be uneventful..
It took my truck 10 calendar days from the day it arrived at the rail yard to the dealer.. For a 100 mile trip on a car hauler.. I am sure 9 out those days was just waiting!
Very much possible that your truck was unloaded in Atlanta if that is the nearest unloading rail yard.. It could be coming from Atlanta to Alabama on a car hauler..Rail car blues! So you can still track the same rail car after yours was unloaded? If so that makes me feel al little better. Birmingham would be closed to me, but I don't know if Ford unloads there or ATLVery much possible that your truck was unloaded in Atlanta if that is the nearest unloading rail yard.. I was able to track the rail car past San Antonio where my truck was unloaded..
I think you can track a railcar by its number for eternity...So you can still track the same rail car after yours was unloaded? If so that makes me feel al little better. Birmingham would be closed to me, but I don't know if Ford unloads there or ATL
Thanks! And yes...I was definitely ready on those mirror caps. As soon as I found out that the truck had shipped I ordered them. Once I got it home I ordered the tonneau and wheel well liners, those are all installed now too.Congratulations.. Beautiful truck and looks like you had the mirror caps ready!
And your driveway.. That is really breathtaking! You live in a beautiful place!
You don't have to pull the mirrors off. There are 3 tabs along the top edge. Just point the mirror all the way down and you can get to them pretty easily with a long common screwdriver. Then work the top edge of the cap off. There is a clip at the bottom middle of the cap that is just going to break as you pull it off...even the boost auto video didn't show a way to release that clip. It breaks pretty easily and doesnt damage the rest of the housing or the cap. Then just pop the new cap on and you're good to go. Less than 10 minutes total for both sides.Based on the photos in my order, I was hoping they would be black too.. Because the order tracking photos all showed them black..
I am ordering the covers from Boost Auto Parts.. And then I will have to paint them myself or get a body shop to paint them..
Watched a video on replacing them.. It looks like you literally have to pull the mirrors off to get to them!
