I wouldn’t really like to just play roulette with my credit if the interest rate later turns out to be other than 0. I think the only possible advantage during the 36/36 B-to-B overlap is if your dealer doesn't provide loaners and you take the optional rental coverage on the ESP (having a backup vehicle I did not take any rental coverage).

Of course, the ESP miles/months start at 0 miles and initial vehicle in-service date no matter when you buy the ESP.

The ESP is a bit cheaper with lower miles / time, but I don't recall the 'break points' on that.

The ESPs DO experience an inflation price adjustment (increase) more or less annually, so there's that.

One thing for sure, the ESP price is never going to be lower than at time of vehicle purchase.

I wouldn't buy an ESP up-front if you've any question about how long you'll keep the truck or if you don't already know you'll eventually get one.

But if you know you eventually will, and like me you have an opportunity to use Ford's 'free money' (0% APR) to fund it, buying it up-front makes financial sense IMO.

The exception might be if your vehicle dealer charges a jacked-up price for the ESP, then ya gotta sharpen your pencil on the financial analysis (just the opposite with my dealer Granger Ford where both trucks and ESPs are deeply discounted )

Correct, The esp is always going to be cheaper when the vehicle has the lowest miles. The price goes up at the 12mo/12,000 mile mark and then typically Ford has a price increase in October. Then again quite a bit after factory coverage ends and then you have to get a "used plan" and a vehicle inspection to get coverage. plus right now we are offering them at our cost and then also offering 0% financing (with a small admin fee) for 18 months on the ESPs!
