get them to check codes in bcm .. you may have same issue i did where a wire from harness was pinched during build and is grounding out. I've seen a few posts about it. it's tricky to trace out, especially if it's transient.
I'm impatient, so I ran the updates on my J1 2021 PB Platinum yesterday (01/27/2021 build) via FDRS and things went fine. Took about 8 hours total (PCM, CMR, PSCM, CCM, IPMA, DSM, PDM, DDM, IPC, GW (x2), APIM (x3) ).. I had just updated everything back in February, so quite the payload. I...
Fwiw, updated mine yesterday, took good 8 hours, and it was up to date as of February. All apim updates popped up after each completed, no issues. Will test drive tomorrow.
Ford doesn't care, they got your money. When my shifter snapped off in November, and it took 5 truck rolls to get it towed, they basically just laughed.
You are having an electrical issue, software isn't going to fix it... lol. What a bunch of assclowns. Something happened with trucks built...
Is no one pissed as i am that on this 'fully OTA updatable' truck, UNDER WARRANTY, we have to purchase FDRS licenses to update fords crap code?! It always chaffed my ass with older vehicles, but surely this one won't need it! NOPE! What a joke.
I'm not holding my breath on ever seeing BC. I've had my truck over a year, and already had to pay for a FDRS license to update my damn truck because the OTA update capability is a SHAM. Ford screwed me with this truck and i'm about ready to just sell it and move on. #LastFord
The OTA update capability is BS, and largely seems like smoke and mirrors. Further confirmed by the fact that I still have to buy a 48 hr FDRS license (for my under warranty vehicle) to update code in all modules, because nothing is pushed. And, of course, dealer will give you the 25 year run...
Because ford like any other large corporation doesn't care. They got their money, unless enough of a mass of people make a stink about it or die, they don't have a reason to do anything. Same with google and a simple phone replacement. Nobody GAF beyond that money. Who's in the wrong tho...
So, bit of an update. 9 hours and 4 tow companies later from ford roadside, I finally get a guy who is willing to move it, but we needed to move it up a few feet to get it lined up down driveway away from equipment. So, no problem, we pull neutral release under steering column and... ECM...
My issues culminated today while "fighting it" trying to get it into drive and the shifter snapped off, after putting a lift in my front yard this AM. Also, since it's all fly-by-wire, there is no way to 'cleanly' move the truck at this point, which is problematic when it's parallel to the...
I received my platinum 1st week of Feb, no otas yet. I did turn off auto updates but even when going in and manually checking there is nothing. I'm pretty sure they are pushing some out anyway (without comms) because one day last week I got in my truck and 'my view' was all reset to defaults...
Just did my 3rd longish trip in my '21 with LKA/DA turned on whole time as I usually do. Yes, I have to jiggle the wheel every 10 secs or so to dismiss the alert, but still worth it to me. Same concept as a locomotive alerter more or less. Makes driving so much easier. I suppose the only...
Mine is all fixed.. took them about 4 hours to trace the short. It wasaa.frayed wire from a harness behind the dash laying across a metal bracket. All seems fine now. Got it back just in time for ice storm induced power outages. Using the truck to power my house was nice!
i checked fuses for things that looked applicable, but not doors. locks, mirrors and windows work on all doors, but now that you mention it, i can't remember if backlighting on door buttons worked or not.. i don't think it did. I did adjust ambient lighting, and all of the ambient lighting...
