Shocks control the motion of the spring. I can’t speak for all obviously but on mine, expansion joints and such would make the truck rock around like an old Caddy and if I hit a bump mid corner, the truck would get all out of sorts. Again, this is with less than 6k on the truck. I think the ride...
Ordered the kit for this over the Thanksgiving weekend sale and got around to doing it today (it's been cold!). Easy install. The re-flash gadget worked fine.
The OE shocks are absolutely trash. I have a 2024 STX I got new this summer and I changed the rear shocks out to Bilstein 5100s maybe a month ago and night and day difference. It was floaty and unsettled and now the ride is much more controlled. The OE shocks could be compressed with no effort...
As others have said, when you run the AC, the shutters open and the fan kicks on (though the benefit of this is likely minimal on the highway) which keeps temps lower. Otherwise, it seems like on my truck (2.7 just to be clear) the cooling system will allow it to go to 215 or so I think and then...
I've had the 5100s on the back of my 2024 (bought new this summer- has just under 10k on it now) for a few weeks now and I'm blown away by the difference. The OE ones were so floaty and the truck seemed real unstable, especially if you hit a bump mid-corner. Swapped them out when I was swapping...
Not just shutters. AC commands the cooling fan on to get air flow across the condenser which of course helps cool the engine. Without it, my 2.7 seems to allow temps up to like 215* or so before they kick on.
I noticed the discrepancy in name. Hopefully I get the Nokian tires too. Haha
The weather pattern here in NH is a bit odd. I work in the seacoast which tends to favor freezing precipitation and home is about 45 minutes west and I’ll get snow here so the studded tires are a tremendous advantage...
Dude that is the deal of the century for Nokians! Thanks for sharing this. I just ordered a set myself but will have them shipped to the house. 0% chance Walmart is touching my truck. haha
I’ve encountered this on basically every truck I have owned over the years. Super annoying. But every six months or so I drop the spare to check it and make sure the winch is functional. Usually before and after winter.
On my 2024, I discovered if I leave it on a MyView screen, it will not always boot back to it but if I pick the same data from the regular menu (I have it on the 4 lines of temp info), it’ll boot to it every time. Random but that’s software. Haha
This seems common on all brands. I never went below 1/4 tank before. I may need to re think as that’s still a ton of range on this but in the end I see a low tank as a poor personal security practice. Not so worried about bad gas, just about getting out of dodge in the event of an emergency.
