  1. LED taillights blinking after parking while towing

Thanks YTWYTW, makes sense. I just switch the lights back to AUTO after towing either in headlights on for 2-lane roads or parking lights on to power up my Voyager rear view camera. I’ll start using lights off. Thanks again for your reply!
  2. LED taillights blinking after parking while towing

2021 F150 towing a 2018 Airstream. On my current towing trip I‘ve noticed that after I park and turn-off the trucks ignition, a few LEDs in both rear taillights blink on-off until I disconnect the trailer pig-tail. Then all-good, tail lights are off. This is the first time I’ve observed...
  3. 3.5 eco boost towing

I have 3.5L EB, XLT 4X4 with the heavy duty payload package (HDPP) and MaxTow, payload is 2,439lbs. My travel trailer scales just at 7,000lbs. with a hitch weight at 1,200lbs. when starting out fully loaded. The 3.5L engine is just a fantastic tow vehicle engine. I recently did a 4,000 mile trip...
  4. Oil changes (3.5L EcoBoost) - first change and subsequent intervals?

I have a 3.5L. I went ahead and did my first oil change at 5,000. My dealer put in Motorcraft full synthetic. I tow a travel trailer here in the western states that scales out at 7,000lbs. Long trips with climbs in the Sierras and recently in the Rockies. I have put on another 5,000 miles since...
  5. "Old to New"- What did you drive before purchasing

    I went from a 2015 Ford F-250 diesel 4X2 to a 2021 F150 XLT 4X4 with the 3.5L and HDPP and more payload @ 2,479lbs.
  6. Who's using premium gas and who's using basic gas?

If I’m not towing, just normal errands and motoring, I’m fine with 87, but always TopTier gasoline. When towing, I always use premium TopTier 91 fuel. Pricey, but Ford’s engineers know their their engine and I trust their guidance.
  7. Oil Analysis at 7k miles (EcoBoost V6)

I really enjoyed the Blackstone “oil change procedure”. As a former service worker, mechanic and eventually a fleet manager, I’ve personally done all of it! LOL! I’ve just hit 3,800miles on my 2021 3.5L and plan on the first O/C at 5,000 miles. My Blackstone bottle is ready to go and and I will...
  8. Engine idling

So, my 2021 with 3,800 miles on it, has the same periodic rough idle. Does feel like a vacuum leak. More annoying than concerning. Otherwise, this is my best Ford truck in a long line!

    Correction! Eastern Oregon.
  10. STONE GRAY F-150 (2021+) Club

Here’s pic of my current Ford truck from up in the Oregon Cascades recently. Just love that Stone gray.
  11. Cleaning engine bay

Back in the days of distributor caps and single ignition coils washing down the engine bay was problematic. Today, less of a problem. Just use light pressure with a hose, not a high pressure washer. A new engine with no oil leaks, your just rinsing off dust and mud. good to go with a gentle...
  12. Box Link Cleat Install Problems

These aren’t easy to install! I lightly tapped them up in the mounting plate with the rubber hammer and was able to then lock ‘em in place. Persever Lpetters84.
  13. Tailgate utility included on XLT?

The plastic “insert” with the cell phone/tablet holder and measuring tape only comes with the optional tailgate step. Looks like you have the standard tailgate without a step.
  14. Towing before 1000mi break in

I really understand the desire to dump the “break-in” oil early. I’ve done it myself. But an engine manufactured today isn’t the same motor as 25 years ago. It wasn’t as well built as current production engines. Our new truck engines are more well designed and built to higher standards. I well...
  15. Anyone Done Their First Oil Change on a PowerBoost?

So, in our Owners Guides/Manuals Ford does not recommend an early oil change. Ford recommends just to follow the programmed, algorithm’d Oil Life Monitor to determine that first OC. I get it that we want to get that first oil change done early, the “peace-of-mind” OC. Fleet and rental vehicles...
  16. Towing before 1000mi break in

I’ll agree that 1,000 miles of driving before towing is a “recommendation “, but Ford has been building vehicles for a long time. After spending a career in vehicle maintenance from truck washer to fleet manager I’m familiar with the real world of vehicle maintenance. A fleet vehicle; car...
  17. Ecoboost Oil and Filters

I just came out of an F250 6.7 diesel. I always let the dealer handle the OC due to the hassle of handling used diesel oil. Looking forward to getting back to servicing my own truck. With the F250 I just followed the Oil Life Monitor which seemed to be pretty accurate. I tow a travel trailer and...
  18. Spare Fob & Any Other Manuals?

If you want to get a hard copy of the 2021 Owners Manual, they are now available from Helm for $35 plus tax and shipping. The Helm site says they’ll start shipping hard copies of the Owners Manuals to owners like me who like to sit down with a glass of adult beverage and do some reading on 3/16...
  19. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 feedback?

Scott, I recently bought a set of Bridgestone Revo 3’s to replace a set of Michelin Defenders on my last Ford truck. I found the All Terrain BS Revo‘s handling as good as or better than the Michelin All Season Defenders, couldn’t believe it. Quiet and really improved gravel, loose dirt driving...
