Finally took the plunge and bought this 2021 KR in Smoked Quartz. It had every option I wanted with the exception of the Co-Pilot self driving, which I can live without. This truck is really amazing. I did get into a long conversation with the dealership about the rust issue. Mine had some...
My work colleague ordered from Holiday Ford in Whitesboro, TX and had a good experience. They’re small town but apparently one of the largest volume Ford truck dealers and will trailer your purchased vehicle right to your home.
The “text guy” I mentioned in a previous post got back to me. Very good over the phone and set me up for a test drive tomorrow at 10am. I’ll report back on the experience.
Ford dealers need to take a page from Lexus, BMW, and other high touch brands. For grins and giggles, I priced a 5-series BMW the other day - it’s less than the F150 KR I want!
Okay, so “text guy” referenced above texted me back and said he can talk at 2:30pm today (must be really busy on the lot! <insert sarcasm here>).
I’m guessing most of these dealership have significantly cut back staff due to COVID.
I would understand the poor response if I lived in an area that didn’t have much inventory. But there are probably 100+ KRs either in lots or on order throughout DFW - I’d think they’d want to clear that inventory ASAP, but who knows?
Funny thing is that I have a First Edition Bronco reservation through a local Ford dealer right now. I’m not releasing it until I get final pricing on a new KR and make my decision. Local dealers with KR inventory here in DFW are discounting $4-6K off of MSRP on their website, before you even...
I’m in the market for a 2021 Ford F-150 fully loaded King Ranch. MSRP on this vehicle is ~$75K, not a small purchase. I’ve gone through Ford’s config tool and requested internet pricing, where they promised someone will contact me within 24 hours. Crickets. I called another dealership and...
I started a similar thread this morning which was merged with this one. My comment was that these kinds of delays lead to quality issues, ergo the other thread about undercarriage rust on brand new 2021s because drivetrains are sitting around in bad weather waiting for the production line to to...
Not good news for those of us who’ve recently ordered or are about to...
Ford forced to cut profitable F-150 pickup truck production due to semiconductor chip shortage
I think these kinds of starts and stops also lead to other production issues, like the thread on undercarriage rust many have...
Thanks everyone for sharing. I’ve never fallen for the “undercarriage spray“ option the finance manager always tries to sell you when buying a new car, but after reading this thread, maybe I’ll have to suck it up and buy it. Planning on buying a new 2021 KR within the next few months.
