Just remember whatever the TT lists for tongue weight, add propane tank weight and battery weight. Manufacturer specs do not include that additional weight. Last thing to take into consideration if your new to TT towing. Tools, levelers, hoses, and general setup stuff all adds to tongue weight...
Food for thought. Put your gear in the trailer and spread out the weight and leave the water tanks empty. Its not a huge savings in payload but theres no need to put it in the truck. I have a 5000lb trailer loaded with about 700 lbs tongue weight when all said and done. I haven't been to the...
Starting a Wisconsin thread. Anything and everything Wisconsin for F150's.
Show off your tuck. What have you done to your truck
Great camping location ideas. Pics with what your hauling.
That seems odd. I need to look at my truck now. My tacoma i just traded in had a 500 lb max tongue weight without WDH. Hard to believe this hitch is rated the same. Anything over 5000 lb for a TT i would use a WDH regardless just because of size. Anderson WDH only weighs 53 lbs and doesn't give...
For everyone's info I have confirmed part # for Tow Mirrors to add on if you don't have but want.
ML3Z-17696CA $500-700. Black mirrors with 360 camera, heated, BLIS, power adjust, manual extend
ML3Z-17696DA $1200-1500 depending on dealer. Chrome capped mirrors. Power adjust, BLIS, heated, 360...
For a smaller trailer look at the Anderson WDH. Takes a little getting used to but is easy once you have it figured out. Only about 60 lbs instead of 100 lbs like the friction bar style. Its adjustable based off load and you can dial it in really well. A little expensive but you don't have to...
Wanted to see who knows or has expertise and getting a spray in liner.
Just bought my F150 and it has no protection back there. I prefer spray in liners but don't know the difference between the two most common near me.
Thoughts?
To be fair I only bought the WDH because I had a tacoma to pull my camper and the WDH is mandatory as Tacomas suck at towing. Just bought the F150 and figured better safe than sorry. By no means am I an expert at what is required. Like someone said, $300 for piece of mind.
I use a WDH at 5k lbs loaded. Its not about just weight. The length, size, wind, and road surface all play into it. The two selling points on WDH is it evens the load on both axles and helps with sway. Just got back from a new TT shakedown today and felt the trailer still moving around due to...
