I personally don't think it's necessarily a legal issue as we have a 2020 Civic SI that has a blind spot camera on the passenger mirror that shows on the radio when the right blinker is on, and on newer Teslas, you can pull up all the camera views (and can be used as dashcams!!) at speed anytime...

My truck did something similar, was on 2.7.3 from December '22 to March, then it updated itself to 2.7.4 then 3.5.2 within like 48 hours of eachother, then stayed there for about a month or so then has been chewing through updates ever since. Now I'm up to 4.3.3 as of yesterday
