  1. 2.7 Payload package question.

All of the modern drive trains above the 3.3 are more than capable of pulling any load that is reasonable. The two limiting factors will be are they capable of maintaining the cooling to keep the fluids at acceptable levels or do they run out of payload.
  2. 2.7 Payload package question.

Anytime you increase payload the ride quality will be stiffer. It won’t take it from Lincoln to gravel truck though. I doubt it will be noticeable in most conditions. The economy will suffer as you will be get the 3.73 but it’s well worth it. That engine plus a 3.73 will come out of the hole...
  3. Towing calculations question

Its a bit more complicated than that. When you do a force body diagram the location of the weight determines on which axle the weight is carried and its effect on the torque. Generally the "heavy" part of the WDH is the part that slides into the trucks receiver and is far away from the trailer...
  4. Towing Newb!! Just got my 21 Lariat

Yes they do but the sticker is wrong. They will give you unloaded tongue weight. Doesn’t included batteries accessories and the stuff you load in trailer. Only way to know for sure is to weigh it. I know it sucks. Some campers are heavier than others. Rear kitchen / front kitchen / size and...
  5. Towing Newb!! Just got my 21 Lariat

So assuming you have 3 people that weigh 400 pounds and you need a WDH that weighs 100 that leaves you with 900 pounds of tongue weight. You can estimate with 13 percent tongue weight that you have room for a 6900 pound trailer. I would shoot for something smaller as you might need more payload...
  6. Towing Newb!! Just got my 21 Lariat

Happy to. What type of trailer are you looking to tow and how many people and how much cargo will be in the truck while you are towing.
  7. Towing Newb!! Just got my 21 Lariat

There is no single number. Lots of numbers you have to stay under. GCWR,GVWR,GAWR, and hitch weight are the main ones. Need to understand each of those values for you individual load you are asking for the truck. It may be you can pull a 9k hay wagon, or a 3k travel trailer if you don’t have...
  8. Photos of 2021 F-150 Lariat Payload Stickers!

It’s because they include the step. The step is steel and has to hold a fat ass so it’s heavy. Go lift the tailgate in a truck that doesn’t have the step and you will be amazed how light it is.
  9. New 3.5L Powerboost Review - Dec 22, 2020

It’s all about gaming the system and not real world MPG. The epa test is not very representative of real world. Most of these reviewers are driving hard and using a lot of pedal.
  10. Towing Newb!! Just got my 21 Lariat

There are still some questions as far as what the truck rates to without a tow package. Previous gen you would of been limited to 5000 pounds as long as you didn’t exceed you 1400 pound payload.
  11. Photos of 2021 F-150 Lariat Payload Stickers!

You can burn the rear axle or if you are in an accident you can be held at fault because you overloaded the truck. Some states also will stop and weight you and issue a fine. There have been a few cases of people involved in accidents seriously overloading the vehicle(not just 100 pounds more...
  12. Price increase for Max Trailer Tow Package effective December 23

Its a 701a so I think it only gets a small increase anyway. I don't plan on making any changes I have it set like I want. Just haven't seen the window sticker yet so I am unsure.
  13. Photos of 2021 F-150 Lariat Payload Stickers!

The PB drop from 5.5 -> 6.5 appears to be around 50# not 20#. I think the 6.5 trucks are around 45 pounds heavier but get an extra 100 pounds of GVWR. Most of the PB trucks I have seen seem to make me thing the overall payload penalty for the PB is something like 125-150# probably depending on...
  14. Price increase for Max Trailer Tow Package effective December 23

Bob, Below is my order. Supposedly scheduled for Week for Feb 1. When my window sticker prints will it reflect the price increase? https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/pages/tracker/?VIN=1FTFW1E8XMFA81296
  15. (Dec 10) Report on 2021 F-150 Production Update and Constraints

I have had my VIN for almost a month and still no window sticker.
  16. Building a Tow Vehicle

If you get any of the powertrains above the 3.3 and at least the basic tow package you will be fine from a "pull" standpoint. The 3.3 wont be able to pull that travel trailer but any of the other 5 engine options will. For pulling that TT I would suggest the 3.5 EB, the others will do fine but...
  17. 2021 F-150 Payload Stickers

Thats a sad panda payload there.
  18. Towing calculations question

The truck that pulls 14K pounds is a XL with the HDPP package, something you will never ever see in the wild, its like a unicorn. The test is done with a skinny ass 150 pound driver and a 150 pound passenger and no cargo and perfectly loaded / balanced trailer. The sunroof in previous...
  19. Price increase for Max Trailer Tow Package effective December 23

It looks like some of the incentives have dropped as well. When I did the X-plan price on my 701a last week it was around $400 cheaper than it is now.
  20. Towing calculations question

The lariat can have the widest range of payload of any of the trims. Most will weigh in closer to 5600 pounds curb than 5300. You could end up with as little as 1400 or as much as 1750 payload (always check the door sticker). Heavy options like the sunroof, power deployable tailgate, FX4...
