I completed the same prep prior to installation. After sitting two weeks, my charger indicated the battery was at 22%. Appeared to charge properly to 100%, but that took about 6 hours.

No required code updates. I plugged it in and it worked flawlessly. Shifter plugs into the same connector that column shifter did within the column.
