Having a PB myself I believe he is just conscious that a heavier wheel/tire setup may affect the electric capabilities. The great thing about Brink wheels is that their 20" wheels are roughly 10lbs lighter per wheel than stock so you can run a heavier offroad tire and net about the same as stock...
The brake coach and EV coach is great, almost like a game haha. I always try to gauge my braking to achieve the 99%+. I wish they had put in a One-Pedal setting so that the PB would get the most out of each braking situation and we could adapt are driving to it.
Raptor R weights 445lbs less than the TRX plus the ford has a 10speed. Head to head the Raptor R beats the TRX in all aspects.

i just rest my wrist on top of the steering wheel and if the weight of my arm isnt enough ill give it some resistance. Also i have noticed on a lot of vehicles with lane centering that off/on ramps confuse it so staying in the middle lane is best.
With your situation of driving in elevation. Any naturally aspirated engine will have to work harder than the turbo application. My suggestion would be the 3.5L Ecoboost and while going up in elevation lock out the last 3 gears (8,9,10) (Very simple to do). This will keep you out of boost.
While you have those not mounted yet. Could you put it on a scale to see what the weight is?
I will be getting new wheels and tires in the future and trying to not add to much weight compared to the stock 20s on my Powerboost.
