Blind Spot System Error - DTC For Image Processing Module A

Hey all, just purchased a 22 F150 XLT 302A with 360 camera system. Cameras all still work, and reverse proximity sensors work.

When shifting into drive, I get an error regarding the blind spot system, and the indicators on the mirrors do not function. There are two DTC set

U0232 - lost communication with side obstacle detection control module A
B15EC - Side Obstacle Detector A

Problem is, I can’t find any relevant information on identifix, or google. The only lead I’ve got is “Connected Image Processing Module A”, problem is, I can’t find any info on where this module is located?

If anyone has any advice on this or knows where it’s located, I would appreciate it!

I saw this,

I see about 3 modules under there and cannot for the life of me figure out which one is the IPMA. I want to test continuity to the rear left tail light sensor.

SODL and SODR are really easy and quick to check; undo each taillight and check they're there for a start, and connector is seated correctly. It's this on both lights:

Did you ever get this issue resolved? My '23 is having a very similar issue (BLISS Fault and Cross Traffic Fault every start up) and I'd like to get it fixed. I initially took it to Ford Dealer in August '25 since it occurred immediately following an OTA update. They were less than helpful and insisted they needed at least 6 more shop hours to diagnose a short since everything was checking out. Fast forward to today, I took it to an independent shop and they claim I need a new IPMA. I'm not sure what to think, but every option so far is going to hurt the wallet. Thanks!

Hey! I wish I had a good solution for you. What ultimately ended up fixing the issue was just a scan with Forscan, and a reset of all the modules I could access.

I downloaded Forscan, scanned the full system, and cleared all codes. Then I performed every reset available on the programming page, and the issue never came back.

What are the codes it is reporting? If your Fordpass is connected, message me the VIN and I can check.

These are the codes it is reporting. It seems more likely like a bad or misaligned right-side side obstacle detection module than the IPMA itself. Has the truck been in any accidents or modified in any way when the issue started, or did it start completely at random? The 08 fault type is for a bus signal/message failure, so it seems like the SODR is not talking to the IPMA causing the fault code.

The SODL and SODR are built into the tail-lights. Check the plugs to make sure it is seated properly.

I did also remove the sensors from both tail lights, cleaned them, and reinstalled. That could’ve been the fix…

No accidents or modifications. There was an OTA update it performed in the early hours of 7/28/25 and the faults popped up on first start up later that day.

@cjnnewman & @rugedraw removing the taillights and inspecting the sensors was the first thing I did and everything appears in good working order.

Never mind.....I read that wrong.

Unfortunately, OTA history gets cut off on 7/31 in your case. Do you remember which OTA it was?
