After calling my dealer and being told I had no order number, I got a call this morning with a vin, order # and 6/3 build week. Both the tracker here and on fords official website say the vin doesn’t exist, so let’s see if that build week holds true!

ordered 4/17. XLT FX4 in lead foot with 302a, bed liner and twin panel moon roof. Let’s see what happens!

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but there will be no F150s built during this week as per a letter to employees released today.

From the Detroit Free Press:
  • Dearborn Truck Plant, and Kansas City Assembly Plant — F-150 truck line — will be down the weeks of May 31 and June 7 and will operate on a reduced schedule the week of June 14.

Typical with the Ford issues right now. I wasn’t holding my breath as it seems what ever can go wrong, will go wrong for Ford!

I just placed an order with my local dealership earlier this week, I was told by the dealer not to expect a VIN for at least two weeks and dont except to get the truck for 12-16 weeks. I know I didnt pick the best time to pull the trigger, but we will see how it goes.

I ordered in March with a build week of 6/14 - we shall see if that keeps. With the ongoing chip shortage + fire at the Renesas plant which makes many of the microchips for Ford, its been a tough few months.

Yeah, I ran with my dealers word that it would take two months to get the truck and sold mine two weeks in. A street bike sounds like a great mode of transportation until it is all you have!

I'm in the same boat. My dealer told me 10-12 weeks when I ordered. That would mean by June 25th. That clearly isn't happening, especially now.

same, I was told 8 to 10 weeks and I’m now on week 14 with no end in sight.

My hope is that Ford slowly ramps up production or just takes a bit of a bottom line hit and pays for additional chips. If the price goes up to acquire more, I would think vehicle sales would offset the losses they are facing now.

I decided to go ahead and text my salesman to ask him to send me the Vehicle Visibility Report tomorrow. Maybe there's been an update to it. I guess we'll see..

Your Dealership doesn't matter...

Your lying sales rep doesn't matter...

Your order date doesn't matter...

Your priority code doesn't matter...

Your options don't matter...

Ford and every other high tech manufacturer don't have the chips to produce their products. And it's NOT "just" chips...
(Try to order a Big Tex Dump trailer right now!)

The chips that have your order delayed were destroyed in a fire at the chip factory along with the equipment to build more.

Granted... Ford has handled this problem atrociously!

But... here's the fire that destroyed your chips and the equipment to make more... and here's the ships piling up at the ports waiting to be unloaded...

It's a world wide mess!

I think you picked exactly the best time to order.

By the time your truck goes into production they may actually have all the parts to complete it and if they don't, it's not going to be sitting half built in a winter storm flooded lot.

Plus... I don't see any way Ford will be able to hold the price of the 2022s anywhere near what you'll pay for your 2021.

Good luck and enjoy the wait....

Is that even a possibility? If they 2021 orders that they haven’t built yet will they just upgrade those to a 2022? Are there really any differences between the two?
