Hi all - new to the forum and just picked up a 2023 5.0 sport 4x4 SCREW (non-FX4). Got the truck to haul the family and it won't see much trailing/hauling (if any). I've always loved the look of a lowered f150 and would like to get some feedback here. However, I definitely do not want the truck slammed.

Based on some quick research, removing the 1.25-1.5 inch block in the rear plus the FP shackles should net be about 2-2.5in lower in the rear. Question is does that make the truck level and whether it makes sense to go for the full FP lowering kit that also drops the front 1.5in with lowering springs. Seems like this would be a nice lowered stance but not low enough where I would be worried about rubbing/ride quality.

Once lowered, I want to replace the 18in sport wheels that came with the truck to either 20 or 22inch oem wheels for a nice OEM+ look. Not sure if this would require spacers to avoid that "tucked in" look.

Appreciate any feedback here.

I have almost the same truck but with the FX4 package. I have not done the FP shackles yet but I have removed the rear blocks and went up one tire size to BFG KO2 285/60/20. There is now only about a 1.5" difference between front and rear so in theory it should be level with the shackles. Living with it for now and have not had any issues, but will prob do shackles at some point.

Thanks for the reply - truck looks great. No issues rubbing with the larger tire - looks like 33.5? Also did you have to get the speed calibrated? Went ahead and ordered the rear shackles as opposed to full kit.

No rub so far but these tires are slightly wider wich I like (being a former Jeep guy that used to roll on 35 and 37's at 12.5 wide). The tire shop said they heard a slight rub at full turn but I have not yet. I did not bother with recalibrating speedometer/don't have the tool (yet) since its a very small difference (less than 1MPH). I have a 3.73 rear end and going just this one size up keeps all the truck components somewhat happy/very close to the specs of the OEM tire size. These tires are very heavy though so I did sacrifice some MPG, but then again I have the 5.0, I did not get this truck with MPG as the priority!

Same truck. I went with the FP drop shackles with SCP 2.5° shims and left the rear blocks in place. I'm running 275/60R20 on a +18 20x9. If going from 18" to 20" or 22" it will feel like you added boat anchors and the ride will be jarring (comparatively speaking) due to the lack of rubber around a 20" or larger. If you're set on 20" wheels I'd avoid anything OEM due to weight.

I had planned on dropping down from the stock 20" to 18" for a number of reasons but I got a deal on these wheels (full set of 5) that I didn't want to pass up. Zero rubbing even when romping around trail whoops at speed. Various shots here but here is the end result:

Damn - that looks awesome. I thought the shackles were just 1.5 drop - that seems more significant?

Also - are the shims required? Do you have a link?

I had some low speed growling before adding them. I assumed the shackles were mild enough to not necessitate a set but sure enough the growl/hum cleared right up after installation. Adding shims to the total install would be a +30 min scenario with the shackles. I waited (regrettably) so if you plan to do it, knock them both out at once for sure.

These are the pair I ordered: https://www.amazon.com/SPC-Performance-F-150-Pinion-Angle/dp/B000SIAPSG

Pulled the trigger on the full Fp lowering kit with springs and all. Thinking I’m going to swap my 18s for the grey 20 sport wheels. Will I need spacers to avoid a tucked in look?

Following this closely. I'd like to get your input, @Espi5.0. I just bought the full FP lowering kit as well, and would like to upgrade my lariat sport 20" wheels to the FP 22" wheels, but I'm concerned about spacers, control arms, rubbing, etc.

Side note, I won't be able to install the FP lowering kit for another 3 months, I'm in the middle of a move. I'll post photos when available.

Just booked an install date for May 3rd - stay tuned. Also considering 22s at some point but want to see how it will sit with 20s first.

I have a 2024 Regular Cab XL short bed two wheel drive on order and am considering the FP 2"-4" drop as well.. I know I don't want a 3-5 drop like so many regular cabs get because of ride quality issues and costs. I believe the Ford factory drop is known by another name? I just want to make it a little easier to get in and hope that along with a swaybar will give me better handling when I'm 'testing' the 5.0 lolol!

Does anyone think I’ll rub up front with the stock 20 inch grey wheels given they are 33 inch tires? Seems like that would have been considered when engineering the kit for stock rides.

I emailed Ford Performance yesterday, asking that same question- no response yet.

It states on their website that the kit can't be used with the high payload package, tremor, raptor, and limited trims, but does not explicitly say 20" or 22" wheels.

My assumption is that we'll have clearance with either wheel. Several folks keep to the 285/45 R22 and 275/60 R20 for that reason.
