I ordered this and have a question before I get started installing it. My question is about the plastic piece that goes around the tow hooks. If I install everything, is it easy to get that piece off to paint it later? Or would I have to remove the bumper again to get it off? I just don’t want to do it twice and don’t know if I want to paint it at all. Thanks.

I think you should be fine after the fact. Here is what that piece looks like. Held in with clips on back. I’m not an expert!

Thanks, I thought the bumper removal was mainly to get the fixed air dam off. I may try wrapping that piece in silver. I’ve never wrapped anything but this looks like an easy way to learn.

Dirty black! I don’t have the time or patience to keep this thing sparkling

Good thing is anything lighter then black will show the skid . Good luck mate! looking forward to seeing it on

So interesting find today… the upper black piece that I was planning on painting came dinged up with some scratches. I started lightly scratching at it with my fingernail and the black paint started coming off like one of those scratch off lottery tickets exposing a metallic silver paint underneath! Wtf ford! I thought they weren’t painting it silver to keep it reserved for the tremors but it’s clearly already silver and looks/feels smooth like it’s clear coated and all. I’m going to take a fine pad to it and see what happens. Best case I’ll buff it and be good, worst case I’ll paint it like I was planning on anyways.

Just got my skid plate in the mail, now to decide on a color. I might just rattle can it all a dark grey
I'd recommend 3M undercoating. It's much more rugged than paint.

so this is the piece that needs to be painted that sits in front of the skid plate correct?! why would FORD paint it if its already the correct silver?! so if you ordered this part with the tremor specific part number, wonder if it would it show up silver or need to be painted?!

Im curious to see what your outcome ends up being. i still have this on my list of things to do...and buy haha

Yeah give it a little elbow grease and you might save yourself some coin. Let us know what you find under that paint.
