Metal Tailgate Lettering

I bought the Putco stainless steel lettering and I hoped to be able to acid etch the mirror finish off to give it that stainless steel look. I was not happy with the results. The unevenness bugged me.

Then I found some plastic black lettering with aluminum outline on Etsy. I ordered those and I will see how those look.

Ok keep me posted. Woke up to an email saying they are shipping me another one so fingers crossed. For what its worth, these (Sharptruck) letters are 3M based, metal letters. Id say a good 1/8 inch thick.
Now I have two (of the wrong) packs sitting in my truck, ready to pullover a Super Duty Plat and just give them to the guy....

Ok, well third time was the charm.
Came back from vacation and found they shipped the correct letters and they fit perfect and look awesome.
For what it's worth, even though Sharp Truck shipped the wrong items twice they were very easy to work with and without hesitation sent a replacement. Told me to keep the ones I received incorrectly.

Then they found the problem and were going to ship out the new ones on Monday. Then they finally emailed me that they were having a big problem getting the material so they canceled the order.

Back to square one for me. Glad to see you finally got the right ones. They do look great so it was worth the extra work you went through.

I may try them but they looked a little on the black side to me. I wanted something like stainless steel or brushed nickel. Like a stainless steel refrigerator would look. I have the black lettering already but I wanted something with a gray or steel color to break it up. The black just blends in with the Atlas Blue. I may keep looking or wait for this etsy person to get the material in. I was getting the black lettering with the aluminum outline, similar to the FORD emblem with the BAP package.

Oh I see. Okay yes these are definitely black I would not even call them gunmetal gray. They are a deep solid black
