My VIN is 1FTFW1ED1MFB59560.

Any info you can get will be helpful. Going to call OTA department. Have a case #.

Thanks for your help.
I looked. I can provide a USB update if you want one. If they have attempted an update too many times you just have to wait 20 days I believe before you can try again.

Thanks.

Ford has offered to help. Apparently, the dealer ordered a new IPMA and Ford engineering is tracking the shipment. Unless Ford engineering gets actively involved in the process of updating the IPMA, which would include first trying to update the old IPMA first and then directly overseeing the replacement, I don't think I'll let the dealer replace the IPMA and try another 15 times.

If Ford engineering only tracks the shipment, I'll take you up on your offer.

They ordered a new ipma or apim? I was confused for a while myself but they are not the same thing. Apim contains the gateway/tcu and sync 4 system. I would think that’s what they should of ordered. Maybe your case is different or they just miss spoke. Like you though I am scared of the tech screwing up my new hardware once the order come in. Apim are a month to six week back order I believe.

Ordered a new APIM, not an IPMA. My mistake. I have expressed my feeling about the dealer's technical staff to Ford customer relations. Was told the dealer has to start working on the truck and call support if they have a problem. Customer is out of the loop once the dealer has the truck.

Told customer relations that I'll start looking for a new truck and I'm not married to Ford.

good luck on your search, I'm amazed on the little leeway the on the ground techs have as well. they just do what they are told no matter logical or not. I have asked my new apim be built as factory and not try to restore previous config and was told they will do whatever the tech line tells them to do. once the Toyota hybrid comes out I might look around a bit, I'll probably still be waiting on my apim

Looking for a new dealer. Ford customer service confirmed that using another dealer is one solution. Customer service had to listen to my rant about Ford's inability to solve the problem or the dealer's techs not competent in tech or non tech repairs. The rant about Ford and the dealer has been documented and visible to the dealer. Either I have lit a fire under the dealer or the proverbial bridge.

I would do it myself, but still not confident enough that I will succeed. Just the thought that I could make it worse like the dealer did scares me. At least Ford is footing the bill.

Might order a 2023 from a different dealer and use my $2,500.00 coupon. Can't harm to take a look see.

You wouldn't make it worse.
You would fix it.
And then be incredibly relieved and even more confused why they couldn't do what you did.

Demps while I agree with snakebitten. Remember you stated your apim is locked out. The normal update process will not work. The usb update might take a few weeks down the road but there is no guarantee if the usb apim takes then invest money to get all the way up to date. A stuck 1.7.1 apim locked out don’t invest in fdrs and a monogoose they won’t get you unstuck. Just get the update usb apim stick plugged in and wait for your apim. Either the update takes someday or a apim comes in. Then you can invest to get your truck up to date.

I dont know why it didnt hit me earlier. I have a nano I can send you (not giving up my monogoose) so you only need a two license to play around and make the apim update. You could give TSB 2150 a shot as well (shouldnt work though). PM me your address Demps if you would like the nano.

You've all convinced me try to unlock the APIM by USB. Especially since it won't make matters worse. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Jesse-Infotainment has offered to provide an USB for my truck. My VIN is 1FTFW1ED1MFB59560. It is a 2021 Limited, if that makes a difference.

Car3452, appreciate the offer to lend your Nano. Hopefully, I'll be able to report that the APIM is unlocked and ready for the next step.

Thanks for the help and encouragement.

Side note.

Ford may be concerned that stolen APIM's will be reused. But effectively rendering them useless to a legitimate user is irrational. I have been locked out of my laptop (not a good typist) and given a way to reset the login process. Didn't have to send the laptop back to the manufacturer and wait for a replacement. Wonder how many Ford employee computers have been rendered useless.

Need new dealer. Current dealer techs are not good with either high or low tech. Tech can’t do an update. Don’t believe entirely Ford’s fault as many forum reports of dealer success.

Automatic updates turned on for a few minutes and then turned off. Don’t know what that means, if anything.

Started to hear a tapping sound and looked for the source. I may be retired but I can still crawl under a truck. I found loose insulation and a scratched drive shaft. Dealer did a recall on my Powerboost in January 2022 for loose insulation. Tech didn’t recognize that he was working on a Powerboost and did the repair for a non Powerboost. The truck is drivable, and recall will be redone when parts show up.

Regarding updates I need to find a new dealer. Can a blocked APIM be updated by FDRS or is the only solution a new APIM? Would another dealer even want to try? Am I stuck waiting on Ford for a solution and having the same tech try again? Should I just bite the bullet and spend hundreds of dollars on the equipment and countless hours to do the Blue Cruise update by myself? Or just throw in the towel and look for another unicorn?

Your opinions and advice are welcomed
My dealer (Ferman Ford in Clearwater) has had my truck going on two weeks for this "update" (22B08) . I had no visible problems with this truck until they put their hands on it. Calls to Ford were completely useless. I am extremely dissatisfied with this.

I would like to take you up on your offer if it still stands. My VIN is 1FTFW1ED1MFB59560.

It will be a good test of the "20-day rule" although it may take a while.

If you are indeed fortunate enough to acquire the USB files, I'm rooting for success.
