My 21 302A with Max Tow has 20s. All the max tows the dealers around me received had 20s and the trailer tow packages had 18s
Maybe all of your dealers spec'd 20's instead of the standard 18s.
Regardless, my Lariat with the max tow is coming with 18-inch wheels. Most people want 20s for looks and slightly better handling but I wanted more sidewall then looks.

The XLT with a 302a high and Max Tow comes with 20s.
The XLT base and Max Tow comes with 18's
The Lariat 500a standard and 501a mid with Max Tow come with 18's.
For some reason the Builder does not show a 502a option for the Lariat but I have heard people talking about it.

Have they come out with the tow chart for 22s yet. On 21s the chart shows u going from 11k towing to 12.4K with max tow.
yes, 2022 RV & Trailer Tow guide is out. Max Tow increases horizontal tow from 11k to 12.4K lbs; however, it does NOT increase payload capacity. Reminder: Tongue weight from your trailer still goes against payload, as does the weight of every person and thing you load in the truck. Also need to be mindful of rear GAWR.

Got the "its built" e-mail this morning! Total shock! Nothing on the tracker or Palsap or FordPass although my modules did get populated. So looks like it should be here next week (its only 20 miles from Dearborn)

Here's the specs on the 21 from Ford for those wondering. I'm pretty sure 22 is the same.

Is there any chance you could do me a huge favor and post a screenshot of the transfer case section?

Yes I was referring to tow payload and not bed payload.

I've never heard of tow payload, only tow capacity. Don't think tow payload is a term commonly used. Payload is pretty straightforward. It's how much weight you can add as cargo. It includes everything you add to the truck. So the people in the vehicle, any personal belongings such as luggage or camping supplies, anything you put in the bed of the truck, and of course the tongue weight of what you might be towing. It includes any accessories you might add after the truck is built, too, such as a bed cover, shell, rack, light bars, etc.

A lot of people don't realize that the higher the trim and the more features you add, the lower your payload. People get decked out trucks with max tow, but sub-1500lb payload ratings trying to tow big trailers with 800lb tongue weights while loading up the entire vehicle with passengers (maybe another 400lbs easy for a family), plus all their personal gear (150-200lbs easily). That right there is 1400lbs. You can easily hit or exceed your payload rating while still being well under the tow capacity max that max tow gets you to.

What is tow payload? I thought payload was GVWR - curb weight, never heard of separate amounts for towing vs non towing.
Curb weight is basically the weight of the vehicle wet with no payload no people nothing in the bed etc.
GVWR is the maximum weight the vehicle can weigh in its totality measured at all four corners. Assuming you do not overload the front or rear axles.
Gcwr is gross combined weight rating which includes the total weight of the vehicle plus the weight of whatever is being towed.
So as mentioned gross vehicle weight rating includes the tongue weight of whatever you're towing. IE a curb weight maybe 5,000 lb a GVWR maybe seven thousand Pounds giving you 2,000 pounds of payload. And a gcwr maybe 21,000 lb giving you a 7,000 lb weight of the vehicle and 14,000 lb for a trailer. Then there is a trailer weight rating for a load-bearing hitch and a trailer weight rating for a load Distributing hitch. Then you get into the three quarter tons and bigger and they will typically give you a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer weight which would be different again.
Clear as mud?

Exactly. Even if only 10% tongue weight, a 11,000 lbs load equates to a 1,100 lbs hit towards your payload. Add 2x 200lbs people, now you’re at 1,500 lbs towards your payload. For the PowerBoost F-150 crowd - especially those with moonroofs, power tailgates, etc. - you’re done. No payload left for a cup of coffee. Max tow won’t help you. Also, that’s a lot of weight on your rear axle, so you’ll want to watch your rear GAWR too.

Don’t think I’m in any way deterring you from purchasing a PB F-150. I just happily ordered a ‘22 Lariat PB (4x4, 500A, no moonroof, no powered tailgate); however, I have realistic tow ranges in mind . . . 7k to 9k-lbs max, starting low and adding to see how the truck handles. ~12K-lbs is, IMO, Super Duty territory, hands-down.

Sure. Here's what I see:

Thanks!

I've been having trouble finding part differences between trims. Maybe that's because it's all the same transfer case. Makes me wonder if some clever forscan hacking can enable auto-4wd in lower trims. But now I'm getting offtopic and will go back to quietly waiting on my truck. ?

@22XLT Grats on the pickup! Great looking truck!

I couldn't wait any longer, so I emailed my dealer today for an update. System still shows a build date of 12/22 but he said it has not been marked as complete or shipped yet. So who knows. We'll probably get more information next week.
