Horrible fuel economy

FYI- just got back from a 700km road trip. About half of the trip was full on highway with cruise set at 125kph/77mph with plenty of rolling hills along the way. The rest was lower speed single lane highway driving.

Computer read 10.9L/100km (21.5mpg) and hand calculated at fill-up upon return was 11.5L/100km.

Worth mentioning is that fact that I did sit idling at a bridge for 20 minutes while a wide-load came across so my actual mpg was better because I really should have turned the truck off for that amount of time.

Also worth adding- this 2.7 hauls ass when trying to pass on the highway. I am so impressed with this power train.

That is great! But, is that your "Lie O Meter" or calculated? My LOM is off by 1.9 Mpg. It lies on the high side. No big foot here and I still only get 16 city and 19 highway.

I will pass on some information my grandfather gave me when I was first married many many moons ago. "Never check your MPG or how much your wife spends while shopping, both will piss you off and there is almost nothing you can do to make either of them better."

@KBKEITH What MPG showed when you bought your truck? Mine was 11 or so, on the 90 mile drive home, I reset the trip calculator and the trip showed 25mpg, while the "all time" MPG was something like 18. On my trip to sacramento 230 miles. I did a new trip, and it showed 26mpg while the general all time mpg got to 22.5 . The first trip that I started the second I bought the truck is showing 23.5.

Since the original MPG started super super super super super super super low you have to give it time to catch up to your actual mileage.

I remember when I first got my limited PB, it came with a full tank of gas and was showing just over 900 kms of range,. My first fill up I did myself gave me 960 range. After my 3rd fill up, my range went up to 1175 kms of range. I got this doing 95kms an hour for a 3 1/2 hr trip with 5 people in the truck and AC cranked, This was roughly a 750km trip both ways. I am averaging just 0ver 10 L/100 weekly

600km on my 4th tank and computer is at 12.5l/100km or 18.8mpg. So far computer seems to be about 0.5mpg off…. But in day to day driving (not hard city but mixed) this is this great gas mileage. 21mpg+ is very doable on highway provided you aren’t driving through mountains.

Lol…calculated. I just drove 500 miles from South Carolina to Orlando FL on Sunday. Truck read 24.0 for the trip.

The last couple weeks it read 21.4 when I was driving around town in Myrtle Beach.

I'm going to compare normal driving mode to eco mode. Just filled up yesterday, 332kms driven for the week, in normal mode, my average for the week was 11.2 liters per/100 kms. I will stay in eco mode this week and see what the difference is between the 2 driving modes. I will post my findings next week. I drive mostly backroads during the week to and from work, 5 days a week with cruise control set at 92kms per hour with some intown driving.

As far as I can tell, it helps the range calculator the most and seems to barely make a dent on the fuel economy calculator. Problem is there's times around town or merging onto the highway where the pedal response in eco mode does not cut it at all so I end up swapping to normal or sport for a few seconds.

Yes I agree, eco mode definitely dulls the throttle response, this will be the first time attempting eco mode for a full week, will see how it goes.

I have 7924.6 km on my truck with it showing Trip 2 at 7919.5 km and 12.2 L/100km - 4921 miles and 23.15 mpg Canadian and 19.27 US gallons. I track my truck expences with a softwre program and it shows over all fuel mileage of 12.597 L/100 - 22.42 mpg. Canadian and 18.67 mpg US gallons.

In almost 5000 miles there is a difference of .73 mpg calculated and and the truck. Close enough for me.

Never reset Trip 2 since I got the truck also I had a full tank when I picked it up so my calculations start at 447 km.

have you adjusted the AFE bias? Mine was about 2 MPG high, after I drove for a bit I recalculated the AFR bias and adjusted it in engineering test mode. Now it reads within +\- 0.2.

Thanks...but the wife says I drive like an old man..hell..I am retired. But I do do the speed limits and not a fast take off at a light, but not slow either. I am interested in seeing what mileage get in the winter. I had a 2011 F 150 Supercab with the 3.5 EB 6 speed O/D and put just over 200,000 km on it with an average of 12.5L/100km - 22.6 mpg Canadian for the whole time I owned it. I had the truck for just over 6 years.
