Although most dealers only accept X-Plan on special orders, the local dealer here told me that I could get an X-Plan PIN if I had a Sam’s Club membership. X-Plan was giving me about $4,800 off MSRP of $73,775.

That is a good deal if you can get it. Now you can do better ordering and traveling to Iowa but this is not bad if it applies to local stock.

Huh, I thought Sam’s Club worked like Costco, where a third party service connects you with dealers who will accept a price that roughly equates to X-plan, rather than simply giving you an xplan pin. This suggests they use TrueCar.

I didn’t actually have to use Costco’s service, I just printed out the pricing it generated (which roughly equated to X-plan pricing) and showed my dealer, they matched it. (I have access to an X-plan pin, but it wasn’t ripe for my order.) didn’t want to use the actual Costco service unless I had to because I’ve known people who got blasted with dealer calls afterwards.

Navy Federal also uses TrueCar and boy did I get blasted with calls from dealers. Kinda steered me away from that member benefit.

several way to get it. Mustang club of America, but you need to be a member for 90 days before you can use it. EAA, in fact here is a list.
