Well.... it could.

From Ford manufacturing, your pricing deal with your dealer has no effect. Primary issue is parts availability to build your specific configuration.

However, Ford has a complicated formula for deciding how many orders from a particular dealer to place into the build plan each week (assuming there are parts), as orders greatly surpass build capability.

Part of that is a prioritization the Dealer puts on their own orders, for when Ford says to the dealer give me your next highest couple of priority orders.

Dealers delineate that by putting a priority number (from 10, the best, to 19) on each of their orders.

So in theory a dealer could put an X-plan order worse in priority than a full MSRP deal order.

However it seems most (reputable) dealers always place their orders all with 10 priority, and just use the date the customer places the order to drive input to Ford.

Mine went in as a regular (non-X) order but I was able to use X-plan at delivery. We just waited till then to see what pricing structure gave us the best deal.

FWIW, my priority code was a '10' at the time.

I just put an order in about a week ago at first they gave me a 19. when I called and told them I was concerned about it they lowered it to 10

I figured I’d do the same thing and ask why such a low priority.

From what I've read, once the factory accepts the order, creates a VIN, and schedules a date, priorities mean nothing (and so should X plan, Z plan, etc.). The dealer's allotment and availability of parts to build are the biggest hurdles.

Got it, that’s why I ordered from a high volume dealer. Thinking I might get it sooner. Hopefully I’ll get some feedback soon, it’s only been three weeks since I placed the order so I’m trying to be patient. Thanks again for the explanation.
